The VT Travel Guide of Garmisch-Partenkirchen shows you the tips of other members about what to visit, where to stay, etc. You find it here:
http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Germany/Bavaria/Garmisch_Partenkirchen-62065/TravelGuide-Garmisch_Partenkirchen.html
For the weather, I don't know but you can do a search on the web and will probably find out the answer.

Hi - I'd recommend going to Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Skiing is available. We were there mid-May and it was freezing - about 1 degree (C) and windy - snow all around! It was great! Check out http://www.zugspitze.de/zugspitze/index_en.php.

Travel Tips for Garmisch-Partenkirchen

by MrBill

These do not really count as tips, but then again, what is better than a good photo to tell a story? This is our beloved Haus Amsel in the clean white snow. This picture was taken at about noon on a sunny, January afternoon. One of my favorite places in the world.

Schloss Linderhof

by mvtouring

Easily reached by bus from Garmisch-Partenkirche for a day outing is the Linderhof Palace . It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one of which he lived to see completion.Ludwig already knew the area around Linderhof from his youth when he had accompanied his father King Maximilian II of Bavaria on his hunting trips in the Bavarian Alps. When Ludwig II became king in 1864 he inherited the so-called Königshäuschen from his father, and in 1869 began enlarging the building. In 1874 he decided to tear down the Königshäuschen and rebuild it on its present-day location in the park

Eating Out 3

by PaulKirk about Braustubl

Well worth a visit for the vaulted bar and wall paintings. Pine benches and tables are crammed in and it's basic but homely. It can get busy so booking some places is reccomended in the evening. There is a proper restaurant with tableclothes but it lacks the atmosphere of the bar. There's also a terrace outside but it doesn't get the sun after early afternoon. The menu is basic and the specilities are Scwheinenhaxe (pork knuckles) which I think are the best in town whilst at weekends they sell some excellent Bauernente (roast duck). They do a good plate of venison in thick gravy/sauce with noodles or dumplings. Good helpings and service. There's no regular music but sometimes the local theatre musicians come in after meeting upstairs and will play. In the Fasching season in Jan-Feb it's always got these entertainers in on a Sunday night.
Food is served at lunchtime until 1430 and in the evenings from 1800 to 2100. In the afternoon they will sell smaller dishes like cold plates and the pork plate with horseradish is excellent. If you're there on a summer afternoon it's a great place to watch the local cows make their own way back to the several farms that are near the Braustubl. Bauenente with bread dumpling or Scweinhaxe.

Lüftlmalerei

by mvtouring

Lüftlmalerei is the name for the special decoration of the homes. Almost like bauermalerei is for furniture. It is fantastic to walk around the region and admire the buildings that are so richly decorated.

Relive the '36 Winter Olympics at the Ice Rink

by lareina

Head down to the Olympia Eissport Zentrum and strap on your skates or catch a hockey game. It is a fun place to get a little excercise and imagine what the Winter Olympic Games of '36 might have been like in this little Bavarian town. On Tuesday nights there is disco-skating, complete with funky lights and packs of teens. Entrance is about 5E. The complex usually closes late April to mid-July, call ahead to check.
