We secured a good deal at this hotel online. The public rooms of this hotel are lovely, but the bedrooms aren't special. They're certainly adequate, but I was expecting a little more from the Grand Hotel. The indoor pool is great.
The Hotel is located just to the right as you enter town from the north, finding it was a breeze. We checked in and then proceeded to shower and nap. Our balcony opened up onto an incredible vista of the mountains that surround the town. We just sat and looked out over the valley for hours enjoying its quaintness. Later we drove into town and up to the Zugspitz for an etheral view from the other side of the vally. The restaurant is really good - however there is no such thing as "doggie bags" so plan to eat heartily. Afterwards laying down in the cloud of goose down was incredible and the next morning we awoke to the sheep bells ringing as they ran through the pasture across the street - a perfect alarm clock. The staff try their very best to accommodate any request and really helped us out with driving directions throughout the region.
GREAT GREAT View - Incredible location - Smack in the middle of Baveria
Directions: from the north - follow A95 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen - then take the B2 which will take you through Oberau and the Farchant Tunnel then immediately exit to right (direction Garmisch-Reutte) - within 2 kilometres you will see the hotel on the right.
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. It is an elegant hotel with a very helpful staff. The restaurants are excellent and the breakfast buffet has a little something for everyone
This hotel is very close to a very beautiful walking trail. As you exit the hotel's driveway, turn left and walk approximately 200 meters and look for an ascending trail.
Directions: I arrived at the train station and took a taxi to the hotel. Everything in Garmisch is no further than a 5 minute ride. Check Orbits or Hotels.com for the best rates
