My daughter (age 8) and I stayed at this hotel in November. The hotel is in the historic area of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, over 100 years old, and serves mostly German tourists, although all the staff spoke English. The room was clean but tiny, with a private bathroom. The area itself is very nice and convenient, so if the room size doesn't matter to you, this would be a good place to stay.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a good, reasonable restaurant serving Bavarian and German specialties. The hotel is across the street from the free shuttle bus that takes you all around Garmisch. If you need to leave early in the morning before the breakfast room opens, let the staff know, and they will pack you sandwiches for the next day instead.
Directions: Exit the train station and follow the signs to Ludwigstrasse. It's about a 20 minute walk.
