combine Geiselwind with a visit in Wuerzburg
by globetrott
Wuerzburg is quite a small town in northern Bavaria, but it has one of the most beautiful palaces of Germany and it would be a pity to miss it, once that you came so close to it: Wuerzburg is in a distance of just 50km from Geiselwind!
The highlights of Wuerzburg are :
1) The Residenz - unfortunately photography is forbidden inside, but it includes also a wide park
2) Hofkirche - free entrance & free photography, see my pics, it is certainly one of the most beautiful churches in Germany !
3) the old castle on top of the hill
4) the medieval crane at the river
5) a beautiful city with many half-timbered houses and also a few baroque facades.

combine Rothenburg with Geiselwind
by globetrott
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is one of the most beautiful villages of Germany and on the highway it will be in a distance of maybe 1 hour driving.
The fact that makes Rothenburg ob der Tauber so unique - it still has the old, medieval town-walls and you may even freely walk around these walls - free of charge, at any time, day and night.
My 2nd pic shows Ploenlein at night, a small square, where most of the tourists take photos, simply because this is the view you may find on almost every book and postcard about Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg is full of wonderful houses, museums and ornate churches.
on my 3rd pic you may see The Heiligblut-altar in the back of St. Jakob. It may easily be overseen, as you have to step up a long stair to a back-part of the church, behind of the organ.
There, in the so-called Heiligenblut-Kapelle / (chapel of the Holy Blood) you may see one of the most beautiful and most precious altars by Tilman Riemenschneider, made in the year 1500.
