rail

I am not showing trains on DB or Rail Europe into Kelheim. 2 are coming from Frankfurt and a couple from Munich. Also boat schedules late September to Weltenburg

Try Kelheim-Saal(Donau)- this does show on the DB website. (Saal is the neighbouring town)

If you want to meet in Kelheim itself choose 'Kelheim Zentrum' from the drop-down list on
http://www.bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/index.shtml
You'll get bus times and info from Saal as well as train times to Saal.
You'll find the boat timetables here:
http://www.renate.de/content/view/70/80/
Click 'Sommer 2010'.

Note that RailEurope does not show all trains in any case; that's one reason why we don't recommend that you use that website for planning purposes...use the official website (bahn.de)
As noted above, the Bahn rail site takes you to the train station when you indicate Kelheim-Saal(Donau), but Kelheim Zentrum adds a bus ride from the station to the city center...

Travel Tips for Kelheim
walking back from Weltenburg to Kelheim
by ardnas67
We went with the sightseeing boat over the Donau, from Kelheim to the abbey of Weltenburg, the oldest abbey of Beieren. The way back we were walking. A smaller boat helped us to get to the other side of the river the Donau, and from there we folled the walking route back to Kelheim. Through the woods and along the river. It was a very hot day in July, and the kids saw many people bathing and floating in the water. In their underwear they went swimming in the Donau. It was very nice!!

"Kelheim - Between Danube and Altmühl"
Ok this is Kelheim. I'm living here for nearly 12 years now...
We have like 16.000 inhabitants which is nice, no stress here
One of the most important reasons why people come here is the Befreiungshalle of course. It was built on the Michelsberg so you can see it from every part of Kelheim....
"Die Altstadt - The old Kelheim"
Well if I'm honest i really don't know When Kelheim was found exactly, but who cares about that?!
You can find lots of very old buildings in every part of the town, but especially in the inner city of course.
"Befreiungshalle"
Just visit it, it's amazing
