Kempten in Bavaria
"Looks like a fence . . . Don't be fooled."
At first glance this seems like a very tall fence. Look a bit more carefully. It's a delightful fountain on a corner near the cathedral. Later when it warmed up, children were playing in it. In summer I suspect adults join them! Fun.
"Signs are works of art"
Look up as you walk through town. All sorts of businesses have lovely signs like this. They are all little works of art and make walking through town like walking through a gallery . . . an adventure in walking.
"Downtown Kempten"
We were there on a very warm Sunday morning. Everyone was either asleep or still in church and we couldn't tour the church because of the service. We walked through the beautiful, but deserted, town and decided to have lunch at Zum Stift Biergarten beside the Basilica of St. Lorenz. It was amazingly cool beneath the trees and we were soon joined by three elderly German ladies, none of whom spoke English but all of whom were very friendly. It was a great lunch and by the time we finished, the Basilica was open for touring.
