quick bus line to & from bahnhof
by PhillyJohn
on returning from Regensburg to Munich we want to stop over in Landshut.
Which is the quickest bus from Bahnhof to Altstadt or Landtor. It looks like it may be line 1 or 2, but may be another. It is hard to understand. We will need to know so we can make right train connection on a Saturday.
Thankyou

Landshut bus lines map
http://www.landshut.org/bnla06/rsla/karte/busplan.pdf
All bus lines go from Hauptbahnhof to Altstadt. On more or less direct routes.
Most direct are bus lines #1, #8 and #10. They do however not go via Landstor.
If you make your trip from Regensburg to Munich on a Bavaria-Ticket - this ticket will cover also the buses in Landshut (and Regensburg and Munich).
DB timetable has also the buses

Travel Tips for Landshut
Landshuter Hochzeit , the best event in LA
by globetrott
LA is the usual way to talk about Landshut umong young people, and LA is also the abbreviation for the town at the licence-plates for cars.
On my picture : along the main street through Landshut you will find a long row of terraces for the wedding-parade that takes place each sunday during the festivity. All the other time these terraces are used to relax and enjoy the great atmosphere... You may click here in order to see different web-cams of Landshut - some of them include the "Innere Münchner Strasse", where the wedding-parade will go through each sunday during " Landshuter Hochzeit "
a great tambourine-majorette
by globetrott
Watch out for this Lady at the wedding-parade of " Landshuter Hochzeit " . She is the tambourine-majorette of quite a small group of musicians, and while watching her, you get the feeling she hypnotizes the musicians and makes them play excellent music with an almost south-american style... BUT it is still music of the middle ages !! This lady is also one of the participants in the " Tavern in der Steckengassen " a performance in Salzstadel each thursday and friday during the festivity.
You may see 40 more pics of Landshuter Hochzeit in the travelogues of my Bavaria-page !!
the traditional drinking-mug
by globetrott
Landshuter Hochzeit is an event, where you cannot participate, simply because you have some sort of old costume at home. Everything that you see there is absolutely authentic and historians make sure, that everything looks exactely like during the original wedding in the year 1475. The traditional Landshuter drinking-mug is a good excample. You may see it fixed on the right side of the belt, when the "inferior" people are walking. Noble people of course would never carry around such a mug, they have their servants to do so and they would go to noble places to have a drink out of glasses of course.
You may buy this drinking-mug as a souvenir - BUT be prepared it is made of copper and quite expensive !! (200 Euros or even more)
Till Eulenspiegel on a fountain in Altstadt
by globetrott
Till Eulenspiegel is a historic character of Germany (born 1300 and died in 1350) He was a simple man, a singer and commedian, who was able to make fun about everyday life and also about kings and noble people and he had a certain way to do it,that he was never harmed by the kings he made fun about. You may see him standing on top of a fountain in Altstadt and he holds a mirror in one hand - a symbol for showing the behaviour of the kings in a mirror.
Questions and Answers
Q: Bus transport in Landshut to Burg Trausnitz "I know from a previous post that there is transport to Altstadt from the Bahnhof,
but is there also bus transit to the Burg..."
A: "No.
Closest bus stop is "Grätzberg" (lines 1 and 7). From there approx. 500 m uphill if you use the Königsweg...."
