Nice middle-class hotel in excellent location
Hotel Herzog Ludwig is located in the middle of the old town in Neustadt, i.e. within a few minutes walk from about everything of interest. As convenient as can be.
Bus 3 from the station stops almost in front of the hotel, on the way back to the station, however, you have to walk to Altstadt stop.
I had a spacious twin room to myself. Good beds and a modern bathroom. No complaints about anything. My room was in the back wing, hence perfectly quiet. It overlooked the backyards of our hotel and the adjacent Hotel Sonne, and I was looking onto a beautiful big chestnut tree. The rooms towards Neustadt street will hear a bit of traffic.
Breakfast is buffet style in sufficient abundance. The hallway between front and back wing also serves as breakfast room.
There was a little issue about ventilation in the bathroom which brought in a bad smell but since both myself and the inhabitants of the neighbouring room informed the reception and they readily accepted the complaint, I assume this has in the meantime long been repaired.
The hotel has free WiFi. All rooms are non-smoking.
