The Old City Hall was built between 1422 and 1436. It was modified several times during the 16th century and in 1865. In 1885 the architect Friedrich von Thiersch rebuild the pediment and the external stairway which were removed in the past years. The facade has got fantastic paintings made by Joseph Widmann.

I arrived late by train from Feldkirch, Austria and had booked no hotel. I had to practice my "Haben Sie ein Zimmer frei?" line seven times before I found a room. This is a very pleasant town to walk around. It was hazy out on the lake and I couldn't see the Alps on the other side, although the camera managed to pick them up in the photo above.
I then took a train to Friedrichshafen.

A: "Hi, the boats to Rorschach already operate from April 30 (twice a day), though more frequent (up to 5 times on weekdays) after 27 May...."
