A&O City Hotel/Hostel was clean, comfortable, and a great value. We had a double room (two twin beds actually) in the hotel portion of their accomodations and our room was on the third floor overlooking the street (Bayerstrasse). I thought the room was actually quite large for a European hotel room. Even with our two beds, bedside tables, small desk, and large armoire, there was a lot of floor space in the room. There is a small hallway that leads into the room (this is inside the room), and the bathroom is in this hallway that's part of your room. There is a door to the hallway and I believe this is so that the room is more energy efficient with keeping in the heat during the winter. The bathroom was very clean but it smelled funny our first day - The shower curtain hadn't been allowed to dry properly and smelled, but we left the radiator on in our bathroom while we were there and the heat allowed it to dry and the smell disappeared. The room was not as brightly lit as I would have liked, but it was also pretty dark outside, so that may have also contributed. However, the room was painted in bright colors.

There is a small TV in the room with all channels in German. The only channel we watched was German MTV, since some of the shows were in their original English format with German subtitles.

There is a breakfast buffet that's included and they give you tokens that you redeem for breakfast so that you don't have to pay. However, we were there for four days and only got tokens for two breakfasts - I'm not sure why we weren't provided breakfast for all our days there. We didn't ask for more tokens though since we weren't going to be able to use them since the other two days we were there, we weren't going to be able to eat there anyways since we had early starts for tours. The breakfast was really good - there were some very yummy homemade sausage patties, hard boiled eggs, cheese, cold cuts, cereal (not so great in my opinion - they only had muesli which I didn't really like), and rolls/croissants. They have coffee, tea, and juice for beverages.

They have a computer in the lobby/breakfast room, but there is a charge for internet use. They also have wifi, but only in the lobby/breakfast room (there is also a charge - you can buy time from the receptionist). We were able to get a weak signal from our room on the third floor if we put our computer on the window sill, but otherwise we had to go downstairs.

It also is not the most wheelchair friendly property. You have to climb a short flight of stairs to get to the elevator, which is also very small and barely fits two people. We were also confused at first and thought that there wasn't an elevator at all since there are glass doors that open up to the elevator shaft, and you have to call the elevator down to your floor. When we first saw the elevator door, the actual car was on another floor, and since we didn't understand the German on the glass, we thought that there wasn't an elevator at all. The hallways are also dark (for energy efficiency) but you can certainly turn the lights on with the switches and they automatically turn off after a while once you've gone in your room.

We didn't have a ton of interaction with the staff but everyone we dealt with was competent and courteous.

I would definitely stay here again - it was the best value overall with the price that we paid and with what was included, and the fact that it was within walking distance to what we wanted to see, and to the train station.

The A&O is only a few blocks away from the south side of the Hauptbahnhof (central train station), and a 15-20 minute walk from the Marienplatz, which is the historic center of town.
