Central meeting point
by adinda
Central meeting point in Munich is the Marienplat. Great place to sit and have a drink. Or to watch tourists looking up in awe to the big clock, waiting for the movement to start. Nothing much happens actually, but still people can't help themselves and keep on shooting film and pictures of the thing.
Rain, rain go away
by acemj
When I travel, I don't let an uncontrollable thing like the weather dampen my mood, even though it often dampened the streets of Munich while I was there. I usually just throw my hood up and continue on with things. The only downside is that when I get my photos developed, everything is gray and things just look as good as they might have. Oh well, at least I had some sunshine while I was there. Enough to enjoy some beers in the biergarten, to stroll through the parks and to take in many of the city's architectural treasures.
Donisl accordion player
by chancay
As already under restaurant tips mentioned, the Donisl is a great place to get traditional bavarian food for a reasonable very fair price AND to experience this in a typical bavarian ambience. Part of this is this accordion player who has his fix place here but also goes around from table to table to put guests into good mood ;-))

Relax in Sauna Paradise at Therme Erding
by lareina
I am addicted to the saunas at Therme Erding in the outskirts of Munich! The spa is a true oasis with palm trees and clear, warm waters. You can choose to enjoy the water-park side only or also enjoy the saunas (in the clothing-optional area). In both areas you will find soaking pools, bubble loungers, steam rooms, cold/hot water therapies, jacuzzis, tanning areas, and restaurants. There is a water slide and lawn area outside for the summer months.
I think the highlight of the spa is the 'Sauna Paradise'. There are ten different saunas, many thermal pools, and cold saunas and plunges. Every hour in the large sauna an attendant changes the air with a new aroma. The attendant pours fragrant water on the sauna rocks and then whips the hot air around with a towel. It only lasts for about seven minutes, but what an intense experience!
For adults a day pass costs 16E and sauna use is 7E extra. There are also passes for 2 or 4 hours at a smaller cost.
Take the S6 train from Munich to Altenerding and follow the signs to the spa, about a ten minute walk. By car, take the B388 road.
