 | Belle Blue Hotel: Euro-modern find in a great location

We stayed at the Belle Blue - aka - Belle Blue Zentrum - and loved it. It was fresh, clean, and blue. I think it may be the coolest hotel room I've ever stayed in. We were there for Oktoberfest - so we paid an outrageous amount of money for the room, but as part of a great vacation, I'd say it was (almost) worth it. We paid US$330 a night. The hotel has a great location, walking distance to everything - The Wiesen (Oktoberfest), the Hauptbanhhof (Main Train Station) and various sightseeing things around town. The entrance is a bit strange (for me, an American) - you go in the front door from the street, up the stairs and around the hallway to reception, then up another flight of stairs in the back to the room. The first time was confusing but it's not bad. There's an elevator but we never used it. The staff was friendly and helpful and answered all of our touristy questions.
The Belle Blue is just really cool - very Euro modern and has great decor. Everything seemed new and clean. The shower was awesome. You need to insert your key card to activate the lights (so you can't leave them on and waste electricity when you leave the room) They had a very nice continental breakfast, included (better be for how much we paid!) The street that the Belle Blue is located on is quite safe, we walked around late late at night as well as very early (5:30am to catch our flight out). However, don't be alarmed by the plethora of topless bars on that block. It seems to be the norm and I was never bothered or looked at by an men. | Belle Blue Hotel: Great Family Owned Hotel

by brwgrl The Belle Blue Hotel in Munich is a simple little family-run hotel that will meet any of your needs. We stayed in room #24 which is at the top of the back stairway and on the same floor as the lobby and breakfast area. We arrived early due to a 8:00am arrival so the room wasn't quite ready yet. We left our luggage with the front desk and when we returned an hour and a half later (still before the official check-in time) our luggage had been moved to our room and everything was set for us. The room itself was a cozy little room, typical of many European hotels. There were a couple of chairs in the room - one by the desk and the other on the opposite side of the beds - which was handy for sitting as well as setting things on. Two twin beds were located in the middle of the room and could be pushed together, which we did, to create more room around the edge of the room. Although the bathroom was small, the shower was excellent and had plenty of hot water.
One of the main reasons why we chose the hotel was the fact that it was close to the train station, had air conditioning, and had an in-room safe. All of these were great plusses to our stay. There was also a mini-fridge in the room which we commandeered every night so that we had cold drinks to take with us on our daily treks. Breakfast was a great combination of cheese, sausage, smoked salmon, soft-boiled eggs, bread and other breakfast type foods. This was complimented by a good selection of juices as well as a coffee machine that was able to produce several different types of coffee drinks. Oh, on top of it all, every Saturday night they have a drawing for prizes. We happened to win a bottle of champaign which was a nice way to end our stay in Munich.
