I first stayed at the Easy Palace Hostel on Mozartstr. in March, 2005 for four nights and again this year in March, 2007, again for four nights. In 2005 we had lots of snow, cars were plowed in; there was over 16 inches in 2 days; and it was beautiful. This year the weather was sensational. Both times the staff was super (one of the best overall staffs that I can remember), and the dorms were very comfortable and clean. The bus (#58) lets you off 50 meters from the front door, and the U-Bahn is less than a block away. The area is very safe. I stayed in another well-known hostel in Munich since (Easy Palace was filled), and from now on I will reserve early so I can stay at Easy Palace. It's a great place! Note from 2007: If anything, the stay was even better than two years ago. ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITE HOSTELS IN EUROPE. The price was the same as 2005, one of the lowest in Germany. This hostel is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. November, 2008: Back again in Munich for the German Christmas Markets (Kristkindelmarkts) at my favorite hostel. A+ rating again. While some of the staff has changed, all of the new folks are great. The management of this hostel should sell franchises. Thanks again to a really great crew.
CLEAN ROOMS, CLEAN BATHROOMS, good breakfasts (extra at the restaurant next door), wonderful staff, super guests too. Cinema theater and McDonalds (ugh) close. Paulanerbräu Restaurant (great and reasonable with a terrific Bayern Buffet on Monday's). Aldi within a few blocks as well as other grocery shopping. Small, but nice bar that is reasonable. Bed linen is included. Did I mention the friendliness of the staff? No? To the Easy Palace staff, "Thanks guys. You're great!"

I haven't actually stayed there...But it looks like an okay alternative in case you can't find other hostel rooms. It's not exactly cheap, but the place looks cosy and clean! Also, it's right next door to the English church MICC I mentioned in another tip. Single room (ensuite shower and toilet) 29 EUR Double room (ensuite shower and toilet) 25 EUR per person

The Easy Palace is a relatively new hostel in town. It opened its doors in July 2003 (I stayed there in August) It's about a mile away from the train station, which isn't so bad, unless you've got a 50 pound backpack on your back!! But, there is also a U bahn stop nearby, so you don't have to walk like we did. Anyways, since it's relatively new, not that many people have heard of it, so it's really nice and roomy. My sister and I stayed there for 5 nights in a 5 bed dorm room and for the first 2 nights, we had it all to ourselves! The only weird drawback is that there is only one key per room, which is kind of strange, but otherwise, it was a very nice hostel.
It's a luxury hotel turned into a hostel. Theme: HostelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: it's on Mozartstrasse, by U Goetheplatz stop.

I stayed at the Easy Palace Hotel on March 18th and 19th, 2005. Only about 100 meters from the Westbahnhof, only about 30 meters from the EasyInternetCafe and only about 10 min. from the Rathaus, the Easy Palace Station Hotel is a very great location. The rooms are sparse and simple but comfortable. I booked a Single Delux room so I had my own ensuite bathroom and shower. The shower was good with strong pressure and a detachable shower head. The bed was a bit hard and short for me (a 6' 2") person but I've slept on worse. The room had cable tv and CNN and a writing desk as well. The desk staff were friendly and helpful and gives a free drink voucher for your use at thier restaurant bar. The breakfast offered is simple but plentyful with hot coffee, rolls, orange juice, cereal and fruit. If you feel you need something more, there is a PizzaHut one block away.
