I stayed at the Easy Palace two years ago, and I really liked it. For more info, check out my tip on it on my Munich page.

Hotels in Munich

by Mandy23

Hello,
we'll stay in Munich in December and I'd like to know if anyone recently stayed at the "Easy Palace Station Hotel" or the "Hotel Montree"? If so, how was your stay there?
Or can anyone recommend another hotel in the city centre, close to the sights and the main train station (price 50-90 Euro)?
Thank you very much!

Mandy

The Easy palace is in a great location, close to the Theresienwiese, but also the city center and it is a very new hostel, only about 2 years old.

I recommend the Regent Hotel. A reasonably smart place, 150 metres from the station. Prices on Wxpedia look good for (at least some of) December.

Travel Tips for Munich

friendly people

by stevehallam

As the picture shows the people are very friendly - My mates wife didn't speak to him for a week after seeing this picture. So if you do happen to be the girl with the pigtails on the left please get in touch and confirm that the guy sat next to you didn't have a chance. Getting my first beer of the day in the hoffbrau tent at 10.30am

Ludwigstrasse Boulevard

by Henkster

This is one of Europe's most impressive boulevards, full of historic architecture, built under King Ludwig I. Connecting Munich's old town from Odeonsplatz with the famous artistic quarter of Schwabing, which starts with the Siegestor (Victory Gate) on Ludwigstrasse.

Football Crazy Fans

by Manyana

i had this impression at the first sight my eyes lied on the lufthansa airplane at heathrow london! the airplane front nose actually took the shape of a black-n-white football. was it a real attached football?

when i arrived in munich, i found out that the football fever was taking everyone walking in the street; people wearing sports t-shirts of the german team, souviner shops were full of football keychains and scarves, and basically i was almost converting to become a football-er!

Munich is a sports city

by Henkster

Munich has 2 soccer clubs in the German "Bundesliga", the highest league.

And FC Bayern is world-famous, because it is one of the top 5 soccer teams in the world (according to the official FIFA ranking).

Don't miss the Olympiazentrum - the biggest sports park in Europe, where you can do any kind of imaginable sports on the ground of the 1972 Olympic Games, with the world-famous and admirable acryl-glass roof.
See my travelogue for more photos.

People in Munich also love to do outdoor sports, like rollerblading, biking or jogging through the huge parks, esp. the Englischer Garten and Olympiapark, the sports mecca.

South of Munich , nestled in...

South of Munich , nestled in the mountains is a very pretty town called Oberammergau. It is very well known for it's Passion Play which is held every 10 years. The play started in 1634 when the Black Plague stopped short of the village. The people vowed to have a play every 10 years to honor Christ
