Great Centrally Located Hotel
We stayed for 5 nights in the Excelsior. The hotel staff was fantastic, always willing to help (the concierge was the best we've met in our travels). The rooms were large and clean. You definitely feel like you are upscale when staying here. Of course Drew Carey stayed here during the World Cup, so how can't you feel upscale knowing that?
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who can afford it, as it is a little pricey, but well worth it to us.
Unique Quality: The hotel is right on the pedestrian area where you can easily find restaurants, cafes, shops, and more just a few steps away.
It is also located very close to a subway stop making it convenient to get to from the airport (which is miles outside the city).
Best thing was that the minibar was included in the price, so everything from that was "free".

Very conveniently located
I stayed in the Hotel Excelsior overnight after a conference and board meeting. It is no more than 100m from the main station and is relatively quiet, being located on a pedestrian street. The room was comfortable although possible due a renovation and the bathroom was well-appointed and the beds comfortable. There was a minibar in the room as well as a TV - with 30 channels free and some Pay TV channels too. I got a special rate of EUR 118 a night - the rack rate is condierably higher. This included a buffet breakfast, that was normally EUR 17. Check-in is from 2pm but if you arrive early you can leave your luggage and it will be waiting for you in your room once it is ready.
