City Tour Card
by sunshineonjesse
Will this card cover the fare from Airport to city centre and back ? I will be in Munich for 3 days and wonder if the 3 day City Tour card worth it
Re: City Tour Card
by Bernd_L
There are different tour cards. The total area ticket covers the airport - the inner city ticket not. The diffence between these tickets is 10,70 euro.
A single ticket from the airport to the city center costs 9,60 euro. So if you use it from and back to the airport the total area ticket is the better choice even if you only want to visit sights in Munich itself.

The City Tour Card for 3 days total area 3 days seems to worth it. I supposed I can use this card for Dachua too ?
Re: City Tour Card

Yes, the total area ticket covers Dachau as well.
Re: City Tour Card

It depends on the card you are holding. You didn't mention if it is for individuals or for groups or families. And by the way, the total tariff zone, München Gesamtnetz, includes the entire municiple area of Munich, as well as the surroundings of Munich. Here, you find a complete overview of the Munich municipal railway network with the appropriate tariff zones. This way, you can find out easily whether the station that is relevant for you lies in the tariff zone München Innenraum or Gesamtnetz.

Travel Tips for Munich
Go to the Viktualienmarkt!...
by eitakorlando
Go to the Viktualienmarkt! Only, don't touch anything! Point to the fruit or vegetable you want and the vendor will weigh and price it for you. (When you think about it, this way really is much more sanitary). Even if you don't want to buy anthing, it is nice to stroll around and watch. Get lost and find your way back again. That is a great way to enjoy munich. You can't go to visit Munich without getting a beer at the Hofbrau Haus. There is a fantastic old-OLD restaurant over by the Opera house. It is off of Maximillian Strasse -- been there since the 1400's. Grab a meal there. The sauerkraut is awesome! Walk up and down Maximilliam Strasse and gawk in all of the fancy-schmancy windows. There is a park that is away from the hustle and bustle of the city over in that area. If it is a sunny day -- go and relax on the grass for a while. I miss shopping in the Marienplatz. I miss grabbing lunch from a quick vendor and sitting down on the ground and eating in the sun. I miss the beautiful churches. I discovered something new each time I went to Munich (and I went all the time).

Go see Dachau. This former concentration camp in the suburbs was not quite what I expected. It wasn't necessarily easy to get to, but we're not taking about a trip to Disney World here, are we? It has a museum and film on the camp. Most of the dormitories have been torn down, but they have one reconsturcted to show you what it was like. What we found so weird was that this was in the middle of the 'burbs, not unlike those you'd find in America. That those things that happened, happened with people all around was just shocking. It's not like this was out in the courntryside somewhere. The day we went it was extreemly windy cold and it was sleeting. It seemed to fit the mood. There's a memorial which states 'Never again' in many languages. A must see, but not for fun. The pic is of a sculpture outside the front of the museum/old main building.
"Ist Dieser Platz Noch Frei?"
by travelfrosch
OK, so now you found a beer hall or beer garden. Where do you sit? In general, it's open seating at large common tables. If a table's empty, it's usually OK to sit down. If there are open seats at an occupied table, ask the occupants if the empty chair(s) is/ are free (e.g. "Entschuldigung, sind Diese zwei Plätze noch frei?") Don't speak German? (or can't fake it like me?;) Be creative with a combination of simple English, gestures, and smiles. You'll generally be tolerated, if not welcomed.
Exceptions to the above: The most common exception to the common seating protocol is the "stammtisch." Tables with this marking (usually marked by a sign on the table or hanging above it) are reserved for "Stammgäste," or regular guests. Even most regular guests don't get to sit at these tables -- only those who are specifically invited. Most establishments have at least one stammtisch -- some (such as the Hofbräuhaus or the Augustiner Keller) have several.
