This is a very cute little hotel right at Viktualienmarkt, one of the lovliest buildings in this area, overlooking Europe's most beautiful fresh produce market. Which better location could you want?
The only noise likely to hear, is the clanging of next door's church bells.

I have stayed in a variety of places and all have been quite good. Stayed in a private home which can be arranged by the tourist office my second trip (pictured), at the Pension am Markt which is great value and very central. Thanks to Andreas for the place to rest my weary and often drunken head on my September visit and to Hanna for letting me crash at her place even after we broke up.
Markt was about $35 for a single with a great breakfast.
This Pizzeria makes the best italian salad to take away , also very small room to eat something

Loewe am Markt is directely on Viktualienmarkt, and it has also some tables outside for a nice summerday.
Something special for this outside-restaurant is the fact, that the cartrafic is far away and you may watch all the people passing by to Viktualienmarkt.
Also the facade of this restaurant is worth a closer look ! some years ago I had a great protion of Kalbshaxn there - ( the feet of a calf )
You may of course get also other dishes of Austrian / German cuisine there...
We had a very good Bavarian Weißwurst with Brezeln and Bier. There are nice places outside, and insidee it is a historical interieur.
We are flying into Munich before setting out for Salzburg and then a ten-day trip to Italy. We've toured in Northern Germany before but the day we fly in from Los Angeles, we want to at least take a bus to the Neuschwanstein Castle. The next morning we will take the early train to Salzburg.
What area of Munich (or hotel) would be the most strategic to go from the airport to the bus and back to the train without wasting alot of time in transportation to the hotel. And since we'll just be sleeping there, economical too! Any help is appreciated.
ps - I'm new to vt and have planned our whole trip based on member recommendations.

Just recently I saw a hoteltip here on VT :

Schuetzengasse
it is opposite the train-station, you simply cross the road.
From the airport you take S8 the subway going directely to station Hauptbahnhof.
There you get out and follow the signs to the trains.
Then you leave the station just opposite the trains, cross the street and will be in Schuetzenstrasse.
just a few meters and you are there.

A great budget hotel with a beautiful location is the Hotel am Markt, overlooking Munich's famous outdoor market, the Viktualienmarkt.
You might want to spend some more time in Munich, because it is one of Europe's most visited cities - and deservingly so! Just take a look at a few Munich pages to know what I am talking about.
