Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by blissblizz

Hi anyone knows whether are there any city tours conducted in Mandarin?

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by Kathrin_E

You may want to check here: http://www.muenchen.de/int/zh (sorry I can't :-))

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

Is that anything to do with oranges ?

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by ellyse

No, not oranges! "Mandarin" refers to the "official" spoken form of Chinese currently in use in mainland China as well as Taiwan.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by pfsmalo

Jocelyn, I know what "Mandarin" is, the "oranges" was a play on words specifically for what I deemed a troll. As the OP hasn't been back since his original post, it looks as if I was right.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by crewrower

pfsmalo: why would the OP's question be trollish? Lots of Chinese people go to Germany (the world's second and forth largest economies, respectively). It was a very reasonable question to ask, and Kathrin tried to help. I don't know the answer but was wondering the same thing.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by pfsmalo

I did deem him a troll, and if you look at his homepage you'll see that he hasn't even been back to look at the answers after 5 weeks!!!!! Very odd if you ask a genuine question and don't come back to look for some answers, so I'll give myself the benefit of the doubt here and still say he's a troll.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by crewrower

OK, we just have a different interpretation then.

I see that the OP registered on 21 July, and his last log in was on 23 July. Maybe he saw the lack of useful responses here (on 21 July) and decided to bail on VT.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

On top of that, nothing indicates whether he is from China, or even in China, or even speaks Chinese. To me it just semed a weird question from someone whose written English is without fault, asked a question and then disappeared. Of course I'm not saying there is no-one in China who can write perfect English but repeat that there is no hint at all that the person is in fact, Chinese. You'll note my reference to him(her) being a troll is dated 2 weeks after him(her) disappearing.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

by crewrower

yes, but how do you know the OP was asking for himself? He could be asking for or on behalf of a friend who will be visiting from China, or for informational purposes like a school project, or myriad other reasons.

A Chinese person would simply ask this question in a Chinese language forum.

And not to be antagonistic, since that would be a silly thing to do, but your comment about "mandarin oranges" was made during a time when the OP is shown to have been active on the site.

I think I've explained why, so bye-bye.

Re: Munich City Tour in Mandarin

Thanks for the web link, Kathrin, but it is not really useful. Still, really appreciated your help. Sorry for not responding as i was busy checking out and planning the itinery of our trip.

Anyway, just to clarify, i am a Chinese, but not from China. I'm from Singapore and why i wanted to enquire about Mandarin speaking guides is because i will be traveling with my elderly parents and they aren't really that fluent/well-versed in English, hence i reckon, if the tours are conducted in Mandarin, it would benefit them significantly.

Hope this clears things up. :)

Travel Tips for Munich

Be prepared to stay (minimum) for 1 week

by Sharrie

Be prepared to stay (minimum) for a week. There's much to see, especially if you love architecture! I've always been fascinated by castles, palaces & mountains. In Munich, it's a dream fulfilled! So, let's begin with the man who made all these possible: KING LUDWIG II (dubbed the mad king by many! So, if you're a little more creative, more aloof, you are mad?).
The Bavalian Alps is one of the most beautiful place to build one's castle. NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE is undoubtedly (at least for me) one of the most beautiful fairy-tale castle in the world! Built by a stage designer rather than an architect, the lavish interior & extravagant decor & vast wall paintings of Wagnerian scenes (Ludwig II is a patron of musician Richard Wagner, long story...) are but a few factors that made this a very unique castle!

Daytrip to Linderhof Castle

by globetrott

Schloss Linderhof was the smallest castle of "mad" king Ludwig of Bavaria.
It was also the only one that he could finish and spend some time there.
The castle is surrounded by a great park with several pavillions like the Maurish Kiosk with the golden dome, that you may see on my pic-combination.
Linderhof is also the ONLY castle of Ludwig, where you may take pics inside ( but without flash and tripod)

There are a lot more pics and infos on my Linderhof-page !!

Linderhof castle is about 15 km west of Oberammergau & Ettal

Eat white sausages without the peel!!

by enjoytravelling

Some locals laughed at us while we were eating white sausages in Viktualienmarkt without having taken their peel off. They advised and told us that you have to cut the sausage along and take the peel off before you start eating them.

They also told us that locals eat those typical sausages before 12 a.m., so that if you eat them afterwards that clearly means that you are a tourist!!

WIES'N TREFF - a great meeting-point

by globetrott

WIESENTREFF is a rather new idea, some people had a few years ago :
Directely there, where the people get out of the U-bahn-station Theresienwiese, you have an official meeting-point, where you may meet your friends, and even post them a message on a board !

And when it is raining, a few people waiting there even have a large umbrella protecting them, while waiting...

Neuschwanstein

by actualtourist

A beautiful fairy tale castle built for the mad king Ludwig II. To get there, take a regional train to Fuessen and a short bus ride from the train station will get you there.

I joined one of the tours (cheaper than the roundtrip ticket price to and from Fuessen) to get there as I didn't know about the Bayern-Ticket, but it seems the Bayern-Ticket is the most economical way to go. I liked some stories told by the guide, though.
