OK hotel, dodgy district

The hotel itself was just passable, I suppose - tiny room, smelly carpets in the corridors, but the lift worked, the receptionists were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The problem was more the dodgy area - lots of sex clubs / clubs showing porn films. I couldn't find a decent restaurant nearby (the book said there was a good Iranian one in the next street, but it turned out to have just closed), and I ended up buying a takeaway doner kebab from a Turkish takeaway - there are lots of those round there, at least - which was OK but not what I'd been looking forward to in Munich.

Breakfast in Munich

by SandiM

Ok weird question: I am staying at the Hotel Reinbold in Munich in April. They offer a complimentary breakfast (which I hear is fantastic!). However, I am trying to coordinate my train to Oberammergau the following morning. Does anyone know how I can find out what time the breakfast room opens so I can enjoy breakfast and still catch an early train?

The Hotel Reinbold, according to the venere.com website, serves breakfast from 7am to 10am every morning.

Hi Gary!

I changed my VT photo yesterday. This building is in Oberammergau. The building murals are called "luftmalerei". They're everywhere down there. They have the Pilatus Haus, the "Rotkaeppchen Haus, (Red Riding Hood House), and the "Haensl und Gretl Heim", (Hansel and Gretel House). These are probably the most famous. The Passion Play Theater by itself, is pretty unremarkable, but they do have the costumes back stage which are pretty colrful, and interesting. Gary

I don't know how much time you'll have in the area, but you might want to take a look at the web site for the Ettal Monastery. You talk about a place for photos! The inside of the chapel is incredible. You might need to coordinate with someone there for photographing though as it is quite dark in there most of the time. Gary

Re: Breakfast in Munich

Gary, unfortunately I won't have much time. I was planning to go from Munich to LInderhof by train then take a regional bus to my hotel in Hohenschwangau. But, I think it might be better if I can find a bus tour from Munich that would do both Linderhof and then head to Neuschwanstein (I have a reservation for the same day in Hohenschwangau's Schlosshotel Lisl). Think the tour bus would leave me at Neuschwsanstein instead of taking me all the way back to Munich? I can walk down to my hotel from there, I think...

Hello, if you need breakfast before 7am then book room service breakfast the
night before, this to suit your shedule also advise the hotel of an early check out.The Reinbold is close to the main Rlwy Stn, I would advise booking your
train the day before. Remember this a busy hotel Mon thro Fri and from experience check can be slow.
Schoene Reise.
Keith.
