VT meeting
by Fen
I was lucky enough to be invited by my friend Hanna who is a Wonderful VT'er herself.
Hanna and I saw Sigue Sigue Sputnik and after the concert I met the Band.
I also met some more of Hanna's friends that night and it was brilliant...! Thanks again Hanna, for sending me the Sigue Sigue Sputnik Cd...!
visit Konigssee
by lorigirl
The 'king's lake' is known the world over for its emerald green water and unique mountain landscape, it is also the deepest and cleanest lake in Germany. Located in the heart of Berchtesgaden's Alpine National Park the Konigssee was indeed used by the kings of Bavaria when they spent their holidays at Berchtesgaden's royal palace, formerly a monastery. So beautiful, quite, and peaceful...
Bicycle town
by acemj
Munich has a well-developed system of bike paths which are usually marked on the streets. As a pedestrian this can be a little unnerving, so be sure you're paying attention as you're walking on the sidewalks. Bicyclists tend to rule the roads and many of them travel at pretty high speeds.
If you plan to spend a day in the English Garden, renting a bike would be an ideal way to see the place.
Starkbierzeit
by richiecdisc
Starkberzeit, or time of the strong beer, heralds the coming of spring. Many of the Munich breweries come out with their versions of this strong beer. They generally weigh in at around 7.5% alcohol and are surprisingly served in liter mugs. The grandaddy of them all is Paulaner's Salvator, a marvelous mix of hops and malt that is dangerously drinkable. To show respect, most other breweries at the -ator suffix. Lowerbrau has Triumphator. Augustiner has Maximator. Spaten has Optimator. Hofrau has Delicator. Both Paulaner and Lowenbrau have elaborate festivals, much like Oktoberfest with music, food and their strong beers on tap. The Paulaner one is so popular that on sunny days, the overflows into the beer garden. It looks odd as it is before there are any leaves on the trees! But it is a good thing as you need all the sun you can get if you are sitting outside in March.
Visit Gilching im 5 Seen Land
by tomas3000
Gilching is a beautiful village in the "5-Seen-Land" (five lakes country). For the over 18000 inhabitants and for tourists, there are numerous possibilities for rest, relaxation, sport or culture. In the near surroundings, there are many lakes, among them, the Ammersee, Starnberger See, Wörthsee, Weßlinger See... With the suburban train, Munich is only half an hour away.
