A reasonable suitcase like in any other town will be fine.Leave space for the things you will buy...If you plan to visit the opera, ballet or a classical concert, you should take really good evening dress like long skirt and high-heels (or a dark suit and tie if you're a male).
Munich people seem to dress up a bit more than I noticed it in any other city I've been to.
They even refused to let us in a music-club ('Nachtcafe') on a saturday night because my female friend and me didn't wear evening clothing!
As Munich lies about 600m high and is quite near the Alpes you must be prepared for quite changeable and even cold weather in spring: it can be sunny 25 degrees in one week and snowing the next...
