Hotel Italia is reasonably priced and very clean although the rooms are small. The main train station of Munich is a 5 minute walk and the Marienplatz is about a 15 minute walk so the hotel is in a great spot. The breakfast has a varied selection. I did not mind the strip bar next door and the rest all along the street but I would not recommend this hotel for families.
We booked for a few nights but stayed just for one because we didn't feel comfortable there. The hotel is located ca. 300 - 400 metres from the main train station and along the street where the hotel is, you will find more hotels but also strip bars and an erotic shop. Now I guess it depends on what people are looking for, but I think there would be hotels in better location if you have for example small children. But location aside, the bathroom was just not what you can expect from a 3 star hotel. 3 star is not luxury and we did not look for that, but at least a room with decent bath but the toilet paper holder fell off the wall after we just slightly touched it, the shower doors had holes and if you are tall, this bathroom isn't for you. I had to open the shower doors and stick my arm halfway in, to have enough space to the other side to dry my hair. The room was dusty, bags with dirty laundry were standing all over the hallways and staircase during the whole day. It should be possible to put those to the side to have a free walkway, also considering people who have trouble walking or a visual impairment like my husband. I have read reviews on the German version of "TripAdvisor" and unfortunately we were not the only guest with a negative experience.
