Those Info. People Know Their Stuff!
by Krumlovgirl
I really love the people at the tourist info. stand in the train station. I almost always arrive in Munich without any hotel reservations and they have fixed me up right every time. Now, I am not suggesting that you not make any reservations. It's possible that I have just been lucky every time. But so far, it's worked for me. We stayed at a very small hotel near the train station, whose name I can not recall at the moment. It looked kind of seedy from the outside, but we were tired and anything was good at that point. The room was small & the bathroom was in the hallway, but when we got up for breakfast the next morning you could have knocked me over with a feather. It was huge! Bread, cheeses, meats, fruit, chocolate, cereals, you name it! We were so excited. It was very unexpected.
Frauenkirche

Frauenkirche (Dom zu unserer lieben Frau) is a symbol of the city indeed. The main well-known detail is towers of the cathedral in 99 meters high that fill you with spirit of Cathedral's power. The guidebooks said that it could be inside for 13.000 people (nowadays 4.000 people for the service).
Who would guess that Munich = beer?
by Trekki
This is more of a fun “tip”, but fits very well into Munich’s local custom section. Munich stands for beer all over the world. Why else is there an Octoberfest existing in countless countries or cities? Oh well, yes, beer is maybe the most famous icon of this town, and more so the huge beer mugs which holds one litre: the Mass.
When we walked through Englischer Garten Saturday afternoon, I almost fell into the lake from laughing when I saw this special illumination for the beer garden in the northern part of the lake. Beer mugs, Mass, what else....
Munich has museums on every...

Munich has museums on every imaginable subject. Some interesting ones are the Museum of Mankind and Nature, the Residenz (Egyptian Art and the crown jewels) and the Museum of Erotic Art. The Deutsches Museum is the largest science and industry museum in Europe. The Old Pinakothek and New Pinakothek (art museums) house extensive collections of medieval to modern European painting. The Lenbachhaus also has an exceptional collection of expressionist paintings (Kandinsky, Klee, Macke, Marc). The Glyptothek (picture) is my favorite museum.

If you comes to Munich for a few days, there are lots of nice and interesting places around to see.Normally most of people are going to see the beautiful Castle of NEUSCHWANSTEIN,in a day excursion from Munich.
We didn't had that excursion availably on our itinerary but we had another nice and amazing Royal Palace to see:
Schloss Herremchiemse,it is another beautiful castle built by the Mad King and is located in a small island at Chiemse Lake about one hour from Munich, take a look to my separated page for more info of this castle.
Other nice place to go on a excursion from Munich are:
Neuschwanstein Castle,
The Alps,
Lakes around Munich
Füssen and a few more.
