by richyoon The hotel is what you would expect from a 5 star property located in one of the best locations in Munich. The service is good, and the restaurants are all high-end. However, the room was just okay. Its clean and simple. A good business hotel, but I wouldn't recommend it as a luxurious romantic weekend place. The room size is adequate, but small (compared to US standards) and amenities are relatively basic. I did appreciate the two free bottles of water provided each day. I believe the Kempinski chain of hotel are highly thought of, but this hotel is definitely not one of its stars. With that said, the hotel is conveniently located near Munich's center. Although the S-Bahn or U-Bahn is still about a 10 minute walk away, the hotel is located relatively central, so nothing ever seemed that far off. Taxis line up in front of this hotel at all hours. So if you are on a business account, this is very convenient. The shopping on this street is definitely for the rich and famous with all the high end merchants located on this street. However, I do believe the prices (with the tax refund) is cheaper than the States even with the bad exchange rate (for Americans). Also convenient are the Deutsche Bank ATMs located across the street from the hotel.
Location is probably the number one outstanding quality of this hotel. Its located on the fanciest street in Munich located between Chanel, Louis Vouitton, Gucci, Ferragamo, etc. The streets are immaculate ... I think I saw street cleaning here every night. 5 mins to the Hofbrauhaus, Opera House, and English Garden.
