How to get a day S-Bhan ticket + airport for 3 members of a family ?

by Mr.Emirates

In the last day of my trip

I will have 2 options to drop off the rented car ( 10 days rent, pick up time 10 am ) :

1- To drop it off at Munich Airport at 14:00, our flight is at 15:45, which will be an additional 66 € because any drop off after 10 am will be counted as an extra day

2- To drop it off at Munich Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof) or Laim Station which are both close to my hotel and then use the railway system for the rest of the day and to get to the airport

I want to go with option 2. There is a 1 day card called Airport-City-Day-Ticket

but the thing is it can be only obtained at the airport. It costs 18.80 €

What do you guys recommend ? is there any other useful day ticket suitable for my case ?

Just buy a normal MVV partner day ticket for the entire MVV network. Costs EUR 18,80 (strange - or?). Covers exactly the same like this Airport-City-Day-Ticket.
You can buy this ticket at all places you can buy MVV tickets. E.g. ticket machines or any MVV sales points.

Travel Tips for Munich

..Visit the Hofbrauhaus,...

by michpc390

..Visit the Hofbrauhaus, preferably with a good-sized group of people you just met. Have fun drinking great beer and getting drunk with them! And don't miss the original Mike's Bike Tour! We had a blast! I could not pick one, so I'll list a few: The bonfires at The Tent, Mike's Bike Tour, Hofbrauhaus, and the sobering history of Dachau (should not be missed).

Munich Tip

by feline01

The Oktoberfest. I know my intro says Munich is more than that and it is but come on, how could I not go? I went in 1987 during my first European trip and was in awe. Part agricultural fair-part drunken feast. Music, rides, traditional costume and most importantly, beer. How could anyone not like this? I arrived early in the morning on an overnight train and partied for a few hours then retreated to a grassy area to nap. One vivid memory I have is some man waking me up from my nap to ask me if I wanted a beer. Excuse me!! I was sleeping!!! Anyway, told him to get lost and went back to enjoying the festival. Later on in the evening, I hopped on an overnight train right out of there. No worries about accomodations that way...

Lions

by bugulma

Well, you feel like you are in safari somewhere becasue on every your step you meet lions. They are really everywhere, in different colors and different poses. I'm interesting in, which city, Munchen or Berlin, has found to use their symbols in the streets.

rather easy jobs on O'fest

by globetrott

As a waiter you have to be able to carry heavy trays of food and be able to carry 6-10 glasses of 1 litre beer with just 2 hands.
Try that at home, the weight will be a total of maybe 15-20 kg that you have to carry across the tent.

( This might be one of the reasons, why glasses are not always filled completely :-)

BUT there are also jobs, where you need a winning smile and the right feeling for the customers - like the Photo-girls on my picture.
They go to each table, offering to take photos, that will be printed out directely or within short time, sometimes these personal pics will be part of a personal postcard of munich with some sights and your photos...

other students offer souvenirs, Pretzels, funny hats or T-shirts directely at the table...

Roof Top Tour

by IceBear7

Football World Cup 2006 is approaching quickly and Munich is preparing by building a brand new stadium. The existing Olympic Stadium is a beautiful stadium in the middle of a huge park with sport and relaxation facilities, restaurants, beer gradens and a huge tower, built for the Olympic Games in 1972.

Literally the newest HIGHlight on the grounds is a tour on the roof of the stadium. Secured with ropes and hooks you climb the roof, walk along safe steps and footpaths and finaly climbing up to the very top and sit down for a few minutes to enjoy the views.

You might have silght problems if you don't have a head for heights, but apart from that it is totally safe. It's not even climbing but walking causally, looking down at the football pitch, over to the tower, across the park, to the city and mountains in the distance.

Great experience!!! The tour starts with a movie about the construction works of the stadium and especially the roof and overall the whole visit takes about 2 hours. Don't forget to bring a hook to secure your camera to your harness.
