Great staff. Great location. The hotel is outside of the main city center, but the elevator to the U-Bahn is just outside the front door. Everyone on the staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. Two internet stations in the lobby (NO CHARGE!) I booked on line with Expedia.com but would recommend that you check the price on Expedia and then book the hotel directly through their website. I think I paid $109 per night (did not include breakfast) and felt this hotel was just as nice as the one I stayed in Amsterdam for $175. (The only difference was that the Amsterdam hotel was right in the city center.) We never walked around the area of the hotel so I don't know what restaurants etc are closeby, but you can get food right in the U-Bahn station Harras.
K&K Am Harras Hotel: A nice little hotel in a quiet part of the city

We stayed at the K+K for three nights in Autumn 2005. The service was exceptionally good. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were great - as helpful and courteous as you would expect from a much more costly five star palace in the city centre. Breakfast was also up to that very same standard.
It really is difficult to find fault.
The K+K is a fine hotel for it's class. It's a little on the small side but is clean, modern and pleasant.
One thing I really did appreciate were the free-to-use internet terminals (with printers) in the lobby. Really useful for planning your trips and excursions or keeping in touch by e-mail.
The hotel bar is also quite small but again it is modern, pleasant and friendly.
In conclusion, the only reason I can deduce for the great price deal you get is location - the K+K is a little way out of the city centre in a quiet little district. There are only a few little cafes and a Macdonalds resturant plus a Spar supermarket within the immedaite area.
Having said that, the Harras U and S-bahn station is only a 4 or 5 minute walk away and it is only 10 minutes from there to the Marienplatz. So, you can be in the very heart of downtown in less than 20 minutes
Directions: A quiet district south east of the city centre, well served by public transport. As I said above, the Marienplatz is less than 20 minutes away from the front door if you use the U-Bahn or S-Bahn service from Harras station.
