Great staff. Great location. The hotel is outside of the main city center, but the elevator to the U-Bahn is just outside the front door. Everyone on the staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. Two internet stations in the lobby (NO CHARGE!) I booked on line with Expedia.com but would recommend that you check the price on Expedia and then book the hotel directly through their website. I think I paid $109 per night (did not include breakfast) and felt this hotel was just as nice as the one I stayed in Amsterdam for $175. (The only difference was that the Amsterdam hotel was right in the city center.) We never walked around the area of the hotel so I don't know what restaurants etc are closeby, but you can get food right in the U-Bahn station Harras.
I stayed in a classic single room in August 2011. The price per night was 45.56 euro with special discount, did not include breakfast (13 euro). The room was literally classic, but clean, cozy.
According to the hotel's website, wired internet connection is provided in rooms, wi-fi in the lobby. But I could use wi-fi in my room on 3rd floor.
Staffs kindly provide good service. I told a staff that a fluorescent light was out, in 15 minutes, they came to my room and changed to new one.
The hotel is not located in the very center of Munich. But surrounding area of the hotel is quiet.
Unique Quality: Official rate per night for a classic single room is 188 euro! (incl breakfast) But you can find discount offer checking rates on the hotel's website.
Directions: Close to U-Bahn station Harras (U6). S-Bahn Harras (S7, S27) station is also 3-minute walk from the hotel. From the hotel, Mcdonald is 1 minute walk, DM supermarket is 5 minites walk.
We stayed at the K+K for three nights in Autumn 2005. The service was exceptionally good. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were great - as helpful and courteous as you would expect from a much more costly five star palace in the city centre. Breakfast was also up to that very same standard.
It really is difficult to find fault.
Unique Quality: The K+K is a fine hotel for it's class. It's a little on the small side but is clean, modern and pleasant.
One thing I really did appreciate were the free-to-use internet terminals (with printers) in the lobby. Really useful for planning your trips and excursions or keeping in touch by e-mail.
The hotel bar is also quite small but again it is modern, pleasant and friendly.
In conclusion, the only reason I can deduce for the great price deal you get is location - the K+K is a little way out of the city centre in a quiet little district. There are only a few little cafes and a Macdonalds resturant plus a Spar supermarket within the immedaite area.
Having said that, the Harras U and S-bahn station is only a 4 or 5 minute walk away and it is only 10 minutes from there to the Marienplatz. So, you can be in the very heart of downtown in less than 20 minutes
Directions: A quiet district south east of the city centre, well served by public transport. As I said above, the Marienplatz is less than 20 minutes away from the front door if you use the U-Bahn or S-Bahn service from Harras station.
