Comfortable hotel near the Hauptbahnhoff

This hotel is cosy, quite atmospheric and reasonably priced.

We stayed here for four nights last December and were very pleased with standards of comfort and service. Arriving at around 10.00 a.m., off the morning flight from Cork, our room was made available to us immediately without the slightest fuss and from then until our departure date, reception staff could not possibly have been friendlier or more helpful.

Rooms are clean, warm and comfortable with floor two available for smokers and the rest non-smoking. Our room was on the fourth floor at the back so very peaceful at night.

Breakfast was served in a really cosy, wood panelled dining room, with floor length windows overlooking a small, snowy garden. A lovely location and a delicious, substantial meal with good choice of hot and cold dishes, fruit, yogourt, breads, croissants etc. Breakfast is included in the room rate.

It's possible to have a drink or coffee in the traditionally furnished foyer area but there isn't a bar as such. At Christmas, this hotel was really festive and the cosiest oasis to come back to after a chilly day's sightseeing.

Incidentally I found this hotel on VT on Fen's Munich page , so thanks Andy, great recommendation.

In terms of location, this is perfect for anyone arriving on the train from the airport. It is however a 12-15 minute walk to Marienplatz but this is not too taxing.

Unique Quality: The cosy, traditional ambience of the foyer and breakfast rooms at King's Hotel Centre, pus the little garden behind, made this hotel very attractive to me.

KING'S HOTEL CENTER IS ROYAL TREATMENT

We were in Munich 3 days, 4 nights and this hotel could not have been better. Centrally located, staff was TERRIFFIC, very helpful, friendly and accomodating. Helped us with travel etc. We loved it and have recommended it to many traveling to Munich since we were there in April. If any of the staff are reading this hi, from Jean and Sandi.

All about convenient and delicious

We arrived at the hotel around 7am which was crazy.. The receptionist was not able to give us a room at first. But she was kind enough to push the cleaning service and let us in after 1.5 hours. What more could I expect? :)

The breakfast was not inclusive but it was a generous offer. Good selection of cheese and meat. We tried the special munchen style bread and we really like it. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The room was very small but well decorated in antique style.

Unique Quality: The transportatoin to/from Kings center was very convenient. It's closed to the main train station of Munich (5-10 minutes by walking). Could be the perfect choice for staying overnight during the train journey. We took S Bahn to get there from the airport. It was about 30 minutes trip and good for us.

S Bahn / Metro station was 500 metres away. We took S Bahn to go Marien Platz. It's easy to go to all tourist sites by metro. The staffs were friendly and very helpful. 200Euro sounds not very good to us, but since it's organized by company, we did not care that much. I checked through interenet and found "www.expedia.com" offers much better deal.

Wouldn't stay here again

Cute and clean but I would not stay here again or recommend the hotel. The web access states good for 24 hours from log in but it's actually from midnight to midnight. The hotel room was hot and stuffy without working air conditioning or even good air circulation (it was cooler outside than inside). There were no parking spots in the hotel garage. The staff was not particularly helpful or accommodating.

More about King's Hotel Center

Just what you need

by TripAdvisor Member Steve147

Agree with what everyone else says - great location, great price, nice staff, clean room (if a bit on the small side).

They say you get what you pay for, but in the case of the Kings Hotel Center I really feel that I got a whole lot more. I'll be staying here again the next time I come to Munich.

just okay

by TripAdvisor Member ilovemusic

The King's Hotel Center was a very beautiful hotel with extremely small rooms and no closet space. Also the room was hot and had no air conditioning. The housekeeper gave us a fan which helped.
Breakfast was very expensive and not included in the price for our room.

Does the trick...

If you're simply looking for a place to stay during Oktoberfest, I would highly reccommend King's Center Hotel. It's simple, but has good character. The rooms are nice, but not showy. The bar (located in the front lobby area), is a great place to have a drink or three and socialize. The staff is what makes this hotel. They serve you with a smile and takes pride in making you happy during your stay. It's just a small walk from the Munich train station. There are more prestigious hotels in Munich, but if you don't care about the ritz and the glamour, then King's Center definitely does the trick!

Great hotel for a short inexpensive trip to Munich!!

What a great hotel!!
We found it to be just what we needed for our 3 night stay.
We had a double room (which I didn't feel was too small) with a shower room, which was clean, tidy and comfortable.

We bought our room through hotel connect website, rather than direct from the hotel. The price included breakfast, which can be expensive if not included in room price. We payed approx £200 for a double room for 3 nights so we were very pleased.

The breakfast was lovely, it included bread, egg, cheese, meat, salad, cereal, yoghurt, fresh and dried fruit, toast, juice and hot drinks. I am unsure why some previous reviewers have said it is limited as we found it quite delicious.

The location is good, with only a 5 minute walk to the main station. The hotel does not stand out from a distance, so make sure you know where you are going before trying to find it.

I must say we had a fab time in Munich, we found it to be a lovely city where all people seemed so friendly and approachable. I would certainly recommend the hotel and the city to anyone looking for a break from real life.

We visted the Dachau concentration camp which was very educational and eye opening and I would recommend anyone to go and have a walk around and see what really happened. It is now a quiet peaceful place where you can hire a hand held guide tape a walk at your own pace and listen to the information.

We also took a tour at the Munich football stadium which was a little difficult as it was in German (no English tours and we only speak English) but we got to see the changing areas and publicity areas etc. I think it is possible to prebook English tours if there is quite a lot of people going.

Back to the hotel..
the only bad points were that the safe in our room did not work and when we advised the staff they did not offer to replace it or lock our valuable items else where.

So overall the hotel is a great place to stay, we went in March/April 06 and had a lovely stay. I would go back anytime and recommend to all.
