Third Reich Waking Tour

by vichatherly

I'm heading out to Munich for the football on Tuesday night. I've booked up a Third Reich walking tour on Tues morning. 2 1/2 hours starting by the clock.

Has anybody been on the tour? Is it any good?

All the best

Vic

I have and it is very informative and fun. The guide is very knowledgable. I also recommend visiting Dachau concentration camp with the same tour company.

@azz8206: Do you think 'fun' is the correct word in case of this subject?!

Re: Third Reich Waking Tour

Sure it is. You meet new people and the tour guide made some funny jokes. What's the big deal anyway?

Thanks for the comments. Heading out to Munich this afternoon. Hopefully have a couple of steins and a sausage or two

i went to Dachau on my last visit and I suppose "fun" was not quite what we had. A reminder though of how we need to be vigiliant against intolerance of others.

I'm heading to the MUFC 1958 air crash memorial to pay my respects in the afternoon before going to the match agaist Munchen. Keep the red flag flying high!

Is terror, persecution and rasicsm, more than 50 million dead people, destroid cities, art and culture, infinite disgrace on an entire nation and much more not a big deal!?!

You're being overly dramatic.

I am just speechless.

The tour was excellent anyway. Highly recommended

I took the same tour but with a private one-on-one guide. Certainly worthwhile and informative. Can't believe these sites survived the war. So much history there. You will like it.

Travel Tips for Munich

Stop and sample some of the...

by mocneto

Stop and sample some of the best beer in the world in one of the largest city parks in Europe – the Englischer Garten (public park) or Viktualienmarkt (traditional market. It’s a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon. Stroll along Maximilianstrasse, Munich’s most elegant shopping street, head for Schwabing – the bar district in and around Leopoldstrasse.

Excursion to Rottenbuch

by globetrott

A visit to Rottenbuch monastery might be easisly done in combination with Wieskirche, Neuschwanstein, Füssen and Hohenschwangau ! You will need a car in order to get to Rottenbuch .
From outside the church looks like any other church in a small bavarian village, BUT from inside it looks absolutely great and unique !!
Just click on my picture and see the great paintings, stuccoworks and golden decorations, or click on my link below to see my Rottenbuch-page !

Street Artists

by d_d

Walking in the streets in the city center, you'll meet many street artists.
Some of them are very good, as the 'cappella' singers in the pics.
Many times, they give you advice for evening shows.
It's really nice to listen them in a sunny day (...aspecially after a long working day!)

Bring an umbrella for sure

by acemj

Don't forget to pack an umbrella or a poncho or whatever you choose to protect you from the rain, which can be frequent in Munich. There are so many wonderful photo opportunities here. Bring all your photo gear.

Romanance Overload

by eliowny

If you are heading to Nymphenburger Schloß, try to time your visit to end with the sunset. There are few things more romantic than watching the sun set over the schloß and the canal. In fact. 2 of my friends got engaged in this spot -- we should all be so lucky ...
