The only black mark came when we decided that Munich deserved more time. Unfortunately the receptionist had changed and a very difficult obnoxious young woman tried to pretend that they were suddenly very busy, even though only six tables were taken at breakfast and only two cars were using the car park. After lots of face-pulling, sighing whilst moving back and forth on her booking screen she announced that we would have to move room and that it would cost another 14 euros. Having been a hotelier for 15 years myself, hers was a very poor performance. I said that in my experience it was normal to offer reduced rates for longer stays but she obstinately stated that it had suddenly become the high season (on a Wednesday?!) and that there was a big football match - (but not until Saturday!). Unable to discuss the matter further we left as planned on the Thursday morning. Fortunately we encountered our original receptionist who seemed puzzled by the difficulties the woman had imagined. His manner certainly put me in a better frame of mind. However this only goes to show that any establishment is only as good as its staff, and that had we been 'welcomed' by the unpleasant young woman on arrival, we would probably not have stayed there.
On balance it is a decent clean hotel, easy to locate in an area with plenty of inexpensive eating alternatives, with plenty of tourist maps and information available and generally good value. there are no outstanding features but at least there are few negatives either as long as you don't meet the foul woman.
