Berliner Strasse 93, Munich, Bavaria, 80805, Germany
Comfy, quiet, excellent location!
Comfortable, quiet, nice sports bar if you want a drink or a little lobby bar, but that closes early but they seem to stay open for people anyway. Nice lobby area, outside nice residential area , lots of trees... nice area.
Unique Quality: Quiet, comfortable, great location, easy to access when you are going into town and coming back, its only a short walk from subway.
* I booked through priceline and got room for about $ 73 per night. Actual price is much more though if u book through hotel. I would suggest priceline. It seems to bring up this hotel a lot when u pick four star and this area, theres a good chance you would get the marriott.
Directions: Easy to get to from airport. Take S bahn to any major stop ( marienplaz for example), then take U6 to Nordfriehof stop. then its about a 5 minute walk.
More about Marriott Munich
Four adults stayed at this hotel April 4-8th. After having read some of the reviews we were somewhat apprehensive about our stay at the Marriott Munich. What a shock. We found this hotel conveniently located to the tram, bakery and supermarket (a few blocks away). It took about 5 - 10 minutes to get to the Marienplatz. The staff, without exception, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. They even called each room after check-in to see if we were pleased with our room and if there was anything they could do for us. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and the beds were an absolute delight. We feel very fortunate that this was the hotel that accepted our bid on Priceline and would absolutely stay there again.
Nice Hotel and location
Since staying at the Munich Marriott since the day it first opened I was somewhat disappointed and the hotel's deterioration over the last sveral years. Whlie service remains at a relatively high standard the guest rooms are in desperate need of renovation.
For a hotel with such a prime location it's dissapointing that Marriott hasn't do more to keep maintain it's expected standard.
The breakfast is always good and likewise for the small restaurant called "Champs" if your lokking for a snack or short meal.
Good business hotel close to city center
Munich Marriott hotel is an above-average business class hotel located in allianz area (northern part of the city). The hotel is located within 500 meters of U6 metro line which can connect you to the centre of the city - Marienplatz within 10 minutes. The location of the hotel is in a quiet residential area with no frills. University areas, Olympic stadium and football stadium are nearby. The hotel is also within walking distance to the Lufthansa airport bus-stop from where you get non-stop bus service to Munich airport every 20 minutes.
The hotel has a nice indoor swimming pool with health club - not commonly found in many Munich hotels. Breakfast spread is great and service is very friendly. Front-desk and general guest service is efficient, though language may be a problem sometimes with guest services. The hotel has a nice pastry shop in the lobby area - a place to unwind and network with fellow travelers in the evening.
Rooms are okay - functional for a short business stay.
I would recommend this hotel to people who prefer to stay in a quiet neighborhood and don't mind the short train journey to reach the heart of Munich.
Typical Marriott, but lacks any charm or personality
For many years a Marriott customer, I have stayed here twice in recent years and found it acceptable and smooth, but also cold and not very interesting as a major, and expensive hotel in a major city.
Check-in and other services are always good, but lack any warmth...as if the Marriott tradition is not quite in synch with Bavarian thought.
The hotel is located quite a distance from the center city areas and for the same price one can stay at true Bavarian landmark hotels like the Bayerischerhof or the Konigshof, both of which have, I think, some personality and are closer to everything. But the quietness of Schwabing can be worthwhile if you need to relax and get away from the city hustle. The Marriott is also near the city's top restaurant, Tantris and that is one nice feature.
I would stay there again if I had no other choice and wanted to spend $330-400 a night for a comfortable room and a major US chain hotel or, as in the past, I wanted to use some frequent guest points for a hotel stay.
Not a great stay!
As soon as we got to the hotel there were problems. We booked through Travelocity and when we got there to check-in, they informed us that our room was ready......a king size bed for 4 of us?!! When we asked how the King bed was booked instead of 2 doubles, we were told "Well it does not matter to us how many people are in the room, we just book the room according to what Travelocity gives us." Ok, fine. We asked to please be put in a room with a king and a sofa if possible (a suite). The manager immediately came out and responded, "We can't upgrade you for free!!!"....clearly this was not what we were trying to do! We finally got our room with 2 doubles and even though it was nice, the initial impression set by the reception desk staff did it for me.
The room was nice, clean, but a little cramped. Beds were comfortable but if the person sleeping next to you moved, the whole bed moved as well. They provide a full stocked bar with wine, soda, water, etc....but at outrageous prices. Internet was provided downstairs in the business center for a fee.....of 10 euros for 45 minutes......while in the lobby lounge, they offered coffee and 1 hour internet on the menu for 6 euros-- MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!! Restaurant downstairs was nice but expensive. Pool and hot tub were the best part of the hotel. There is also a tanning bed in the pool area but it was broken and they also charged you an arm and a leg for that.
The location of the hotel was in a business type area, with some residential buildings. It was about 2 blocks from a subway stop, and about 10 minutes from the city center (Marienplatz).
Overall I think that a larger group of people would be better off staying somewhere near the center of the city, with a smaller more personal hotel. This hotel is only meant for business people.
Comfortable and standard Marriott hotel
I visit Munich at the height of the Football World Cup 2007. It was the night which Germany beat Argentina and the city went absolutely wild, there was police everywhere.
The Marriott on Google Maps looks absolutely depressing. Way far from the center of the city in a very non-touristy place. The reality is although there are not much around the area to do, it only takes 5-10 minutes by underground train to reach Marienplatz. All the while, you can escape the hustle bustle of the city center and relax at night. The Nordfriedhof underground entrance is about 2 blocks away from the hotel and a quick 4 minutes walk will get you there.
The hotel itself is located near a highway but if you can get a room facing the local street then it is a very quiet place to be. The room is a standard Marriott style. The king bed that I had was large and soft. There is a small tea table and chair for those who like to have tea by the window. The room is nicely appointed but nothing strikingly special. The wall however is a bit thin from the inside so you may hear a bit more noise than usual.
The bathroom is an decent size with nice amenities better quality than what we have on this side of the ocean.
Since I try to look up for a room pretty late, nothing much was available inside the city but I found an absolutely crazy deal at the Marriott for $100 USD/night in July in the middle of the World Cup so my value point maybe a bit skewed here compare to other reviewers. As such I readjust the value point to 4 instead of 5.
Solid choice and would stay there again
Probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in for quite some time! Very welcome after flying from the States and in need of a good rest.
The hotel is in a great location - a quick, short walk to the U-Bahn station which takes you to Marienplatz in just minutes. It's in a quiet residential area, with the usual Marriott amenities.
For a personal stay, having to pay $19 Euros/day for internet access really stinks. It's definitely targeting the business traveler in this regard, but otherwise suited our needs just fine.
Stayed 3 times in this place in 2005 - 2007. Each time was absolutely satisfied - very nice, comfortable rooms, good location, helpful staff. The pool and gym area are also nice and clean.
The hotel is next to U-Bahn station, it takes about 15 minutes to the historical center.
The hotel is perfect for both business and tourism travelers. I will try to stay there if I go to Munich again.
Good location, Not-so-Good Bathroom
We found this hotel to be a convenient base to see the city and it is in a very nice neighborhood. It was right near a U-Bahn station. The room was just ok, the bathroom was pretty outdated and small, as was the television. But if you can get it for the right price on Priceline, this hotel is well worth it.
I am looking for a hotel in Munich, I need something close to the U Bahn Marienplatz - can someone tell me how close Marienplatz is to the main train station in Munich?
Can I get a hotel near the Hauptbahnhof and walk to Marienplatz ?
If not, can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced hotel near Marienplatz ?
Thanks a lot!
Re: Marienplatz ?
Marienplatz is a very easywalk from the Hauptbahnhof. there are also many hotels in the area. For a comprehensive selection you should check out www.venere.com or www.bookings.com. Both are reliable sites with genuine reviews from people who have stayed at each hotel. I can recommend Hotel Senefelder in Senefelderstrasse, which is about 150-200 meters from the Hauptbahnhof. It is well located and the rates are reasonable and include a very nice breakfast.
Re: Marienplatz ?
Marienplatz is 2 S-Bahn stops from Hauptbahnhof (the main railway station).
another hotel search & booking site
You can give as destination
than it will list the available hotels by distance from these locations.
Re: Marienplatz ?
While you can walk from Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) to Marienplatz, it is a little more than a kilometer, so perhaps a bit too far if you are supposed to appear at 8 am at Marienplatz or so.
A good *and* reasonably priced hotel close to Marienplatz ... well I hope you have an idea, how expensive the area is. Still, you could try Hotel Platzl. It's probably a bit conservative or ... well ... uptight for you ...
If you want to give yourself a treat - Hotel Anna:
Re: Marienplatz ?
I would try the Munich Marriott.....Try priceline and it usually takes you there if you pick that part of town. And its only a few stops from Marienplaz. Marienplaz is a major stop and you can connect to the U bahn here and its very easy. So if you stayed at the munich marriott, you are on the U6 nordfreihof which is only a few stops to marienplaz..... it was nice and comfy there and less than 5 minute walk to the subway
