Mercure Muenchen City
Mercure Hotel in Germany are really good at a decent price. It cost only Euro 75 a night in Munich. You can hardly find a decent hotel at this price. The trick is to go to the hotel webpage and click on deals that do not allow changes. The difference in deals that can be change and those that are fixed is the price of a good dinner. I have stayed before in Le Meridien Hotel which is just 5 minutes walk away and as a tourist, I do not need the porter service and the expensive rooms. Frankly speaking, I feel no difference between paying Euro 250 for Le Meridien and Euro 75 for Mercure Munich City.
It really help if you plan your trip early and not make any changes. Good planning = Good Food for budget travellers.
Unique Quality: Check out the design of the room and you will be overwhelmed by it. The place made us feel like we are living in a palace. The room and bed were big and the staffs were friendly.

Great Hotel, Great Location
The property was just renovated before we stayed there. We usually stay at Mercure hotels, and are always satisfied. Just a short walk form the train station, and fairly close to all thing Munich. A great value!

A good deal
We stayed at the Mercure Muenchen City for a night recently. The room was pretty much standard but staff wasn't exactly friendly. But we got a good deal and didn't spend much time in the hotel so that's ok.
The hotel is located very close to the main station which makes it a perfect location to explore Munich and surroundings during a short stay. The street it's in is full of hotels and hostels and around the corner there's cheap snack places ... which means that this street is not the quietest in Munich.
Unique Quality: Most rooms have a balcony (but everytime I was in the hotel it was raining so we used it only for smoking). The view from there is not very nice though.
The breakfast buffet was very nice and included all kinds of bread, cereal, fruit etc as well as warm stuff (They even serve Weisswurst!). You could have breakfast between 6:30 to 11 so you have time to sleep in and still have breakfast.

A quiet courtyard 1 block from the Main Station
Two doors up from a boisterous youth hostel and one block from the station, there is a quiet haven of a hotel. The inner rooms overlook a lusciously green courtyard cafe that offers excellent meals both mid-day and in the evening.
Breakfast is served in the mahogany panelled room that by night does duty as the hotel bar. Service is cordial - and very efficient. The Mercure City is an oasis of calm in a busy town.
