beer tent reservations

by lisa18752003

hi everyone, myself and my cousin are goin to the Oktoberfest in september but we dont have tent reservations, how do we prebook them? and how easy is it to get in if we dont prebook? thanks

Re: beer tent reservations

It´s normaly quite large tables (sitting 10-20?), if you don´t book you can select who is sitting with you at the table. I had never a problem finding a place.

if its just 2 persons and if you dont care what tent and where you sit (OUTside or inside the tent, close to the music or not...) you will always find some place, AND reservations for just 2 will hardly be done without compulsary minimum consumation or such !
Go there, join others on the large tables, thats a lot of fun and small tables for 2 almost dont exist anyway.

Go a little earlier in the day if you want to get in a particular tent. We were unable to find seats the last time we went, however it is possible we were not persistant enough.

brilliant thanks, we were hoping for the hippodrome but think we might have a problem with that as its very popular.

Re: beer tent reservations

hippodrome is quite small and when I remember that correctely they dont have OUTside seats, BUT when you come there already in the afternoon it should be no problem for just 2 people!

Hippodrom is one of the biggest ones, thats why i think we'll have problems getting in as its the most popular. From what everyone is saying though i think the fact there is only 2 of us going that will be in out favour :)

I had a look here:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festzelte_auf_dem_Oktoberfest#Hippodrom
and there you see a list of all big tents and Hippodrom is the last but one of the big tents:
Hofbräuhaus : 10.000 seats
Löwenbräu: 8.573 seats
Winzerer Fähndl – Paulaner-Festhalle:8.450 Inside and 2.450 OUTside
Schützenfestzelt:5.361 seats
Schottenhaml: 4.000 seats
Hippodrom: 3300 seats in and 1000 outside of the tent
FischerVroni is just 3080 inside +700 outside

Travel Tips for Munich

Royal Residence and Hofgarten

by Henkster

This is where the Bavarian kings and queens of past centuries used to live. The kingdom of Bavaria was rules from Munich for many centuries. Today Bavaria is a part of Germany and Munich is only it's state capital.
Many people would want Bavaria to be independent from Germany.

Christmas Time

by chicabonita

... it was still November and before the first advent, but the christmas decoration were already installed. That could drive me crazy and I have the impression that it is geeting worse each year. Unfortuantely it's the same in every city ...

Oktober fest

by traveloturc

Oktoberfest, perhaps Munich's most famous attraction. A 2-week-long fair, it offers a wide selection of rollercoasters and several large beer tents ("Bierzelte"). The Oktoberfest was first held on October 12, 1810 in honor of the marriage of crown prince Ludwig to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities were closed with a horse race and in the following years the horse races were continued and later developed into what is now known as the Oktoberfest. Despite its name, most of Oktoberfest occurs in September. It always finishes on the first Sunday in October unless the German national holiday on 3 October ("Tag der deutschen Einheit" - Day of German Unity) is a Monday or Tuesday

Charivari

by globetrott

Charivari is a word often used in Bavaria ( today mostly as the name of a radio-station )
But mainly "Charivari" is all these small things hanging on a traditional hat or lederhosn, on a chain around the neck or arm, that male and female Bavarians wear with their traditional costumes.

And it could be any kind of a "hunting-souvenir" like bird-feathers, the teeth of an animal, horns of a wolpertinger ;-), Edelweiss prepared and conservated behind glass etc.

When you click on my picture, you may see the plenty of "Charivari" this Bavarian has fixed to his tradtional hat.

Moshammer ties .....

by chancay

you ever heard of the designer Rudolph Moshammer, called Mosi? ....strolling around Munich city I suddenly passed by the store of this special guy who has been always seen with his little dog Daisy....well, he was a famous german designer of clothes. I am talking about the past, because he was murdered in the beginning of 2005. This was a big story for the yellow press, it is still not sure what were the reasons for this murder. I must admit that I never knew much about Rudolf Moshammer but heard a lot about him after his death. He was a unique person, a famous disigner who also did a lot for the poor people in his homecity Munich. I think a part of his heritage will be for the help of homeless people, another part is for his Yorkshire Daisy. ..on the photo you see some ties with his portrait in the window of his store......I have really no idea who would use a tie with his face on it.....;-D...
