Not a bad deal

I booked a private room with a double bed for around $54 USD. I had a private bathroom and shower and a rooftop balcony that overlooked a Munich alley. OK, not very scenic, but the price was right. They had a social area between the hostel and the bar next door where people could get to know each other. There was a kitchen where you could make your own meals. I liked the private room and social interaction the best. A private room in Munich at a hotel would cost you double the money or more. This place is a perfect location to the train station, right across the street. This makes it easy to continue the rest of your journey. Great exprience and I recommend it to anyone.

Unique Quality: Private room and bathroom/shower for a great price!

Wombat

Good located near the Hauptbahnhof (Munich central station).
Nice, youthful athmosphere. Clean rooms. Unfortunately, the breakfast is not so good and abundant as it is claimed to be on the hostel's website. Fair prices.

Great Hostel!

The staff here are super friendly. I was constantly asking for directions and recommendations and they were always friendly in offering their advice.

Staying on the lower levels can get a bit noisy though.. there is an echo effect.

Unique Quality: Easy to find. Just opposite the train station and an enjoyable 15mins walk to marienplatz. Also, it's abt 50-100m from all the metro and tram intersections so location is great!

Wombats is a good hostel

Easy check-in, luggage storage, clean rooms with free lockers. Max 6 person dorm and bathroom in each room.

There's a bar in the hostel. You can buy all you can eat breakfast for like 4 euros, but you get very basic stuff like toast, cereal, juice, coffee.

Unique Quality: In addition to clean, comfy, spacious rooms, they'll give you a city map with all kinds of suggestions on things to do, eat, etc.
