Tram tickets in Nuremberg

by steveandlizbeth

How do you go about getting tram tickets in Nuremberg. Is there a machine at every stop or do you get them on the tram?

No tickets are sold in DB trains, S-Bahn, U-Bahn and trams. There are ticket machines at all stops.

Strictly seen there are no "tram tickets". You buy tickets for one or more local public transport zones (e.g. the city of Nuremberg). Such a ticket covers all types of local public transport (DB regional trains, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses) and you can use any combination to reach your destination. More:

Travel Tips for Nürnberg

Museums

by tini58de

There are hundreds of museums in Nuremburg, the Toy Museum might be one of the more well known one, but from Pigeon Museum to Weissbierglass museum you can find almost everything....

Have a look at this fantastic list of Nuremburg museums

Please keep in mind, that most museums in Germany are closed on Mondays!

A square

by mirchica

Now this is a regular small square with beautiful houses around. But in the past came people from all over Europe to trade with wine here. It was special for me cause in Plovdvi(my city) we have a grape square where nowadays we go with my friends and have beers :))

Pass on the north side of Hangman's bridge and go right,it's around 100 meters far from there.

Metro

Nuremberg has an excellent transport system, especially for a city of its size. It has a underground, one serving the smallest population in Europe, as well as a thorough network of trams, buses and S-Bahn trains. For a tourist you'll probably not use it all that much, unless you absolutely hate walking, because the Altstadt is so compact and contains most of what there is to see. If you want to get out to see some of Nuremberg's Nazi history, like Luitpoldhain and the Palace of Justice, you will probably want to grab a tram or train.

A single ticket fare within the Nuremberg city area will cost you €1.40. If you buy single or multiple-single tickets, make sure to get them stamped in the machines. These are located at the steps down to the U-Bahn. You can buy day tickets for only €3.60, which may prove a much better deal. If you are planning on staying a couple of days and visiting many of the museums then get yourself a Nuremberg Card. It costs 18 euros and covers you for travel in the Nuremberg-Fürth region (about as far as you could want to travel) and gives you free entry to pretty much every museum and sight worth visiting.

Bio-Food

by AnnaLupilla about Herr Lenz

This restaurants serves delicious regional and seasonal food of controlled biological cultivation wherever possible.
The restaurant itself is cosy with paint in light-warm green. The partitions give you some privatesphere, but you don't feel offside too much, though.
The restaurant hosts up to 70 people.
We'll be back!! The menu is limited to three pages of food - including one page changing weekly - and few more pages for beverages - alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and wine included.
We had a salad with roasted chicken as starter, served with home-made bread, followed by ragout of lamb with tagliatelle and chicken in lemon sauce. As desserts we choosed a Panna Cotta made of coconut-milk and a delicicicicious slice of chocolate cake.
The menu also offers a lot of dishes which are free from lactose.
I just can recommend all the dishes we orderd!!
The prices are definitely fair: we paid average 10 € for a main-dish.

Verkehrsmuseum Nürnberg

by globetrott

Verkehrsmuseum Bahn & Post is one of my favorite train-museums, mainly because they have the unique train for "mad" King Ludwig II of Bavaria, another "royal" wagon of Fuerst Bismarck and a good collection of other trains and historic background-infos.
In case that you come outside of the opeing-hours of the museum you will be able to take a look from the street through one of the large windows and you will see a modern ICE-train next to the first locomotive of Germany, the "Adler"
Verkehrsmuseum is open for visitors :
Tuesday - Friday 09.00am - 05.00pm
Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays 10.00am - 06.00pm
Also open on Easter- and Whitsun-Monday and all
Mondays in Advent (the 4 weeks before X-mas)
Closed : Jan 1st, Good Friday, May 1st and
December 24 + 25 + 31
4 euros for adults / children 2,-
families 2 adults and up to 4 children : 8 Euros
