Weather in Nürnberg
by biusing
Dear VT friends. I will be in Nürnberg between 21-26th May 2008. Just wondering whether I really need to bring along some warm clothing since I intend to travel light. Thanks in advance.

Bring at least one warm sweater and a rainproof jacket, just in case. The evenings may be rather chilly, and rain happens through all seasons. Detailed predictions are impossible three months in advance.

I was there last July for one day and I had to put on a sweater. So better take one, just in case.

Dear all
I'm now in Nurnberg - attending the InterZoo2008 event. It's such a beautiful city and I am trying my best to make time visiting the key tourist sights. I will be leaving for Rome on the 25th May. Any tips on Rome?

Toy Museum
by Travelchili
Although I am not a specialist on toys, I spent a lovely afternoon in this museum and found it spectacular. This Toy Museum was opened in 1971 and it is based on the private collection of Lydia and Paul Bayer. There are four floors in the museum and these are the following toys you are expected to see:
* Ground floor: wooden toys
* First floor: dolls and dolls' houses
* Second floor: Tin World that include trains and steam engines.
* Top floor: tells you about toy history from the immediate post-war years to toys today.
I think the museum will be especially worth a visit if you have kids - it seemed like they were all having a wonderful time over there! You can find it in the heart of the Old Town at Karlstrasse 13-15, 90403 Nuremberg.

Nuremberg Johannisfriedhof Cemetery
by leafmcgowan
St. John's Cemetery (Johannisfriedhof)is situated to the West of the Neutor and is the last resting place of many important citizens of Nuremberg and the surrounding area. Amongst the greats buried here are Albrecht Dürer (painter), Veit Stoß (craftsman) and Willibald Pirckheimer (humanist). The cemetery is composed of many sacrophagos-like tombstones that are decorated by bronze tablets with many interesting epitaphs engraved on them as well as depictions of coats of arms that give the professions of the dead. It is told that in the winter of 1993/94 antique-theives stole many of the bronze plates for their value on the black market. Established in the 13th century, it was not until after 1518 that people from the parish of St. Seebald were buried here, outside the city walls. There is a picturesque church within the cemetery that was built in the 14th century and was the only historic church in Nuremberg to escape the bombing raids.
Normaly by the train or car....

Normaly by the train or car. There´s also an airport with some international flights
As Nuernberg is not THAT big you can walk a lot for the most of the spots. For those who are a little lazzier: metro and busses are easy to find. Think also about the 'Nigh-liners' if you like to spend the nights in clubs
Karlsberg Bridge
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
The Castle (Kaiserburg) was constructed on a rock about 1050 by Henry III. Gradually the Castle became an ancestral lands transferred by right of succession. In 1138-1140 it was completed by emperor Konrad, and it became the imperial Castle. Every emperors of Germany visited Nurnberg in 1050-1571 . The majority of sessions of a diet took place here.
And take photos of the buildings!
by leics
Weissgerbergasse is said to offer one of the most picturesque views of Nurnberg's older architecture. But there are plenty of other lovely buildings in the city, if you take the time to wander.
Whether they were undamaged in the air-raids and firestorms or carefully rebuilt and restored doesn't really matter. They are still fascinating.
Take the time to wander the stereets away from the main tourist routes.
