A few years ago, they have started using the big ditch running parallel to the old town wall for cultural events. Moreover, in summer, there are music festivals such as 'Rock im Park' (mid-July) or the 'Bardentreffen' where musicians entertain people for free all over the town (end of July).
Executioner's House / Henkerhaus
by globetrott
The Executioner's House / Henkerhaus is at the end of a small island, it is a tiny house with strange architecture dating back to the year 1320. Once this house used to be a part of the old citywall, that crossed the river Pegnitz at this place.
Every Saturday and Sunday between Easter and December the house will be open for the tourists between 02.00 and 06.00pm
be-witching
by globetrott about Hexenhäusla
Hexenhäusla (that is the local expression for "witch-house" ) is an interesting restaurant in the backside of the castle and close to the moat. Just take a look at the many witches in and outside of the restaurant and in the restaurant-garden. The building is worth seeing as well, as it dates back to the medieval times and still includes a large well and a halftimbered facade. I did not eat anything in this lovely restaurant, but I think that it is a great place to eat dinner or lunch, especially when you are coming with children and they will have a seperate menu for children. Of course you will get Nuernberger Rostbratwurst there as well !
"Nuernberger Bratwurstknödel"
is a speciality, that you will find only in this restaurant:
3 potatoe-dumplings, filled with Bratwurst
served with Sauerkraut and gravy for 7,50 Euros

The old 'walled' city. (Sorry I don't know the real name.)
Ancient looking walls look like they would have stopped any invaders, but once you're inside you realize the 'capitalists' have taken over!! Plenty of shopping; many big name stores.
Nazi Party Rally Grounds
by blaird
So, you learn all about the Nazi Rally Grounds in the museum, but you can then leave the museum and see where some of the big propoganda speeches where given.
The Nazi Party Rallies were held every year in September, up until 1938. They lasted a week and up to 1,000,000 people came to Nuremberg from all over Germany.
Sadly, during the 1935 Party Rally the NS rulers passed the anti-Semitic "Nuremberg Laws", which ultimately led to the Holocaust.
