take a closer look at the Sinwellturm (tower), a part of the castle. It is one of its most significant features. Right next to it is a very deep well reaching down to the ground water level - the castle needed water in case of emergency, and so they drilled a hole deep down! As a child, one of our teachers took us up to the castle to demonstrate how deep this well was. It impressed me then and still does today!
Weinstadel
by globetrott
Weinstadel is one of the largest halftimbered houses in Nuernberg, and it dates back to the year 1446. It was built first as a hospital, but later it was used to store wine, so that is where the name comes from. Nowadays it is a home for students.
Walk around of this building and dont miss to take a closer look at its side facing the river Pegnitz, where you willl also see the Henkershaus, the tiny house of the Hangman of Nuernberg.
Under new ownership, which is good.
by flyingscot4 about Zur Goldenes Posthorn
Zur Goldenes Posthorn was an absolute favorite of mine in the early 60's. The food was superb and expensive. It was known as one of Nürnberg's best restaurants. It was also the oldest weinstubbe in the city (not the oldest restaurant). The next time I was there was in 2003. It was still filled with wonderful German ambiance, but something had changed. The night that I was there, I had the worst meal I have ever had in Nürnberg. Ever!
In 2005 (might have been 2004) I took a friend to Nürnberg and was going to show him the restaurant. There was a sign that said, "Closed for remodeling." I told my friend that remodeling would not solve the problem.
In 2006 I found out what had happened. The restaurant was closed for remodeling because it had been sold to the owner of Bratwursthäusle. That suited me fine and we went there for dinner on my last day in Nürnberg. We could not get in the door, it was so crowded. The restaurant now specializes in basic Franken and Bavarian dishes along with Nürnberger bratwurst. I will add to this report in May/June 2007. I have heard it is wonderful and reasonable. UPDATE: Because of the weakness of the dollar I have not traveled much this year. But, I am happy to report that Zür Goldenes Posthorn is back. Gone are the high prices, replaced with medium-priced excellent menu as-well-as the famed bratwurst. The former menu was filled with wild game selections. I don't miss them. This is once again a wonderful choice for old world dining and ambiance that is "gemütlich."
UPDATE DEC.2008: If anything, this restaurant is even better!

Frauenkirche
by Leipzig
The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) is located at the Hauptmarkt. It was built 1352 – 58 as a donation of Emperor Karl IV. Daily at noon you can see the "Männleinlauf". That's a clock showing seven Electors paying homage to Emperor Karl IV.
Usually the church is open daily but when i was here it was closed due to preparation for a fest.
