transportation between nuremberg and herzogenaurach?

by girl1234

Hi,
I just wanted to know if there is any kind of public transportation between Nuremberg and Herzogenaurach? I will be visiting and would like to travel between the two cities.
Thanks for your help.

See www.bahn.de - you have to take a train to Erlangen and then a bus (No. 201) to Herzogenaurach.

Herzogenaurach is part of the VGN, the local public transport network of the Greater Nuremberg region

bus lines in Herzogenaurach

Normal route is train to Erlangen and from ther by bus 201 to Herzogenaurach "An der Schütt". For connections check the VGN timetable.
Single ticket is EUR 5,10 (from anywhere in Nuremberg to any bus stop in Herzogenaurach).
TagesTicket Plus (day ticket) is EUR 11,50.
If bought an a Saturday this ticket is also valid for Sunday.
This ticket is good for up to 6 persons travelling together, but only 2 out of them must be older than 18 years.

Travel Tips for Nürnberg

NOT expect too much -...

by smoox

NOT expect too much - unfortunately. Of course, the Christmas market is THE attraction in winter. It used to be different - I recall somewhat empty aisles during the day, fuller but not congested ones when it became dark. Today, there´s heaps of tourists from all over the world, crowding in the aisles. But still, it has not lost its atmosphere. My tip: Don´t go on weekends!

Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne

by AnnaLupilla

Every year from may to september about 60 different stages invite visitors (mainly children) of the Woehrder Wiese to a trip in the world of senses. Every year they lay great stress on different topics like, water, fire or wind ...
Entrance fee is quite a lot, but it's worth every cent you pay.

Another Osteria

by AnnaLupilla about L'Osteria Toscana

This restaurant is fairly unknown, as it is located outside the city center. This doesn't mean any negative, maybe exactly the opposite:
Meals are quite big, usually you can take away the part of the pizza that's too much. The ambience is very familiar: Gianni and Giuseppe, who own the restaurant are brothers. They are a real quite tip! My favorite dish there is ... surprise surprise ... pizza! Unbeatable is pizza with rucola, grilled chinese mushrooms and fresh parmesan.
For desert you should ask for the unique Tiramisu.

The Marenplatz

This is the church in the Main Plaza. At 12 noon the clock plays music and figures go in and out. This church was under restoration the first time I was there in 84 and the scaffolding was still there the next time I went in 87.

Kaiserburg Tower

I like how the folks who constructed this fortification so many centuries ago integrated the natural rock formations into the castle walls. Makes for a pretty neat effect, I think. The big boulders are great to lounge upon and lazily watch the tourists dutifully file on by as they make their way downhill to the ancient city center.
