Cruising at a leisurely pace 450 kilometers from Passau to Würzburg with the Swiss Crystal.
Rising in the mountains of Germany's Black Forest, the Danube winds its way through romantic gorges and vineyard-clad valleys, flowing by castles, monasteries and picturesque, medieval towns and villages.

Fortress high above the town, good place to explore and home to the local youth hostel.
Didn't venture inside the museum and I don't think the fortress itself is open to the public (maybe wrong) but enjoyed an hour or so wandering around the outside and grounds. Great views over Passau.
A minibus travels from the centre, it's a steep walk (transport tip later)

The wolrd's biggest Church Organ!

The Organ at Dom St. Stephan

What a mighty sound! Normally I don't like listening to church or classic music, but coming out of this organ with it's 17774 Pipes and 233 Registers it's marvelous to hear.

Take a walk in the old town of Passau

Take a walk in the old town of Passau and you will pass by plenty of interesting buildings and some of them you will never find decribed in any of your guidebooks , like the one on my picture, a giant painting showing holy Christophorus.
Most of the streets in the old town are pedestrian area today or strictly reserved for local trafic, so strolling through Passau will be great fun.

Well...you can never help the weather. It cleared up twenty minutes later when we were ashore again...But this is the Dreiflusseck from the deck of a sightseeing boat, giving a good panorama across the whole of the Old Town
