Laundry
by erconger
We will arrive in Passau to join a river cruise. We will be there overnight. I am looking for a laundry where we can have clothes washed and picked up the next day. Something near the center of town.

Ask your hotel they work with one.

There are two types of laundries. A Reinigung (dry-cleaner) takes your stuff, does the cleaning and ironing etc. and you pick it upo when it's done. Those do things like shirts and pants but they won't take your socks and underwear and stuff. The other option is a Waschsalon, i.e. a coin-operated self-service laundry with washing-machines and dryers. Probably what you need, but you'll have to invest an hour or two and do the washing yourself.
Travel Tips for Passau
You have to go here...

About an hour's drive east of Passau is Schlogen where the Danube makes its unbelievable turn. Although the boat trips down the Danube pass by here - if at all possible come here by car, bike, bus - whatever!
There is nothing really here except a lovely Wellness Hotel and a Marina but you can park your car and take a half an hour walk up the mountain for this view.
It is one of those sites that takes your breath away and really makes you sit back and just admire.
The old town of Passau

In the old town, you'll find nice places and narrow and winding streets, it's a pleasure to stroll around there! I especially liked those gates like you see on the photo. It also must be nice to walk along the promenade at the rivers Inn and Donau (Danube), where also river cruises start, but we could only walk shortly along the river as the promenade was flooded.
Not a bad deal!

The town hall (Rathaus) is definately worth a visit to see the paintings in the Great Assembly Rooms. The vaulted ceilings, stucco work, and the paintings are lovely to see and you can take pictures.
The Small Assembly Room can be viewed as well - but bear in mind that this is where the weddings are performed so it may be hard to get in and see it.
This has to be the best deal of anything in town as the admission is only 1 Euro 50 cents!
Bonio goes to Passau

"2 nights in town"
Always promised ourselves we would pay a visit and so we did!
A couple of nights and enjoyed a look at the rivers meeting, the castle and a visit to some beergardens.
Please take a look at what we got up to.
Possibly one of the worlds' best beergardens in Passau?
