Travel Tips for Regensburg
Steinerne Brücke (The Stone Bridge)
by MEdelmann
The Steinerne Brücke (Stone bridge) over the river Danube, was erected between the years 1135 and 1146. It is great example of medival architecture. It is 306 meters long and supported by 16 pillars.
At the front end of the bridge is the old pawnbroker's shop, and at its feet the Historische Wurstküche is an extremely popular rendezvous. This is one of the oldest bridges in Europe! Just click on the picture to see the amazing details of it ...
The old commercal quarter
by MEdelmann
It is located in the centre of the old part of the town and it is characterized by the towers of the whealthy merchants and patricians. The Goldene Turm (Golden Tower) in Wahlenstrasse is the most impressive example. It was erected in about 1260 and boasts the highest tower built on a private residence in the whole of Germany.

Don't miss Walhalla, located about 8km east of Regensburg near Donaustauf. Walhalla, a beautiful temple like building made of white marble build for the bavarian King Ludwig I in 1830-1841. The way up to the hall of fame is 250 steps high. The hall contains inscriptions and busts of famous Germans.
Visit BMW
by bilgeez
The BMW factory in Regensburg gave tours there on certain days of the week. They may still, it was very interesting. The tour guide spoke excellent English. The plant is south of the city in an industrial area. City buses do go there, but one has to pay the extra fare for a "Fernfahrt" as it is away from the city.
Check BMW's website to see if they have tour info. If I find any better info in my "archives" I will add it in here.
