In need of a bus rental company

by Texasjaeger

I need to rent a bus to take 15-20 people from Regensburg to Dachau and back in September. Can anyone recommend an affordable bus company?

Re: In need of a bus rental company

Just for your information:

A normal return train ticket would be around 50 Euro per person and the ride takes about 2 hours via Munich Central Station. You would be entitled to a group discount which I haven't found, yet.
However, once you arrive in Dachau you would need further means of transport.

You can use Bavaria Tickets for this trip. One is EUR 28,00 for 2-5 persons. Thus you would need 3-4 Bavaria Tickets. Bavaria Ticket is valid
Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day

Covers the trains from Regensburg to Dachau station and the buses from there to the memorial site. (Covers all regional trains in Bavaria and all other local public transport in Regensburg, Munich and Dachau.)

DB timetable

From: Regensburg
To: KZ Dachau
and select as means of transport "only local transport".

Travel Tips for Regensburg

Student's City

by f_m_s

Regensburg has a university which makes it very enjoyable during the school time. However, it is a really small city and it is not worth to take a touristic visit here, especially in summer :) There are lots of pubs, restaurants and bars as there are a lot of students but there are not too many places for shopping. There is a small festival kind a thing during late August or early September (not sure) in the city so you can have a chance to see lots of people wearing their traditional clothes during that time. It is a good time to visit Regensburg, you can see what Bavarians do for entertainment.

Some packing list tips for Regensburg

by MEdelmann

Bring a jacket! It can be windy on the river Danube! Also it will be never wrong to bring good shoes when walking through the old town centre. Bring a camera and pack in some rolls of film! There is a lot to photograph in Regensburg! I would have made more photographs if there weren?t so much people there .... As always: Bring enough time with you!

Monday Pizza deal

by dentremo about Peaches

This place is packed on Monday when classes are in session at the university so get there early. A very large pizza only costs 5.10 euros (any pizza on the menu). Other than its size, the pizza is nothing special. I wouldn't buy one at normal price, but on Mondays theres no cheaper way to get full. Two people can even split a pizza, unless they're really hungry.

Steinerne Brücke

by bonio

I think that translates as stone bridge? anyway one of the earliest crossings of the Danube, mostly for pedestrians now but watch out for taxis and buses that are allowed to cross.
Excellent views of the city while walking over, and take a look how fast the river is flowing between the arches under your feet.........

Welsh rarebit

by Lochlainn

The tower you can see here furthest back is the Goldener Turm, the other belongs to the Kastenmayer palace, both on Wahlenstrasse. They say this street's name is the one in oldest continuous use in Regensburg and stretches back probably even to Roman times! The logic to this claim is that Wahlen is a form of Welschen, an archaic word used to describe Italians. Church documents of the 12th century refer to it as 'Inter Latinos' (Amongst Italians). It makes you wonder did visiting Welsh people in the middle ages have a problem with Bavarians practising their Italian on them? It's a good job they dropped the term! The pub I worked in was just around the corner from this street (and I don't ever remember a visiting Welsh person - though quite a few Welschen!).
