Considering the Ringhotel St Georg in Regensburg?

St Peter's Cathedral by Lochlainn
This place is well documented elsewhere so I won't bore you with the historical details. I'll merely add some testimony to its imposing grandeur. It dominates the old city, but not in the almost oppressive style of some of its northern counterparts. It is almost like a giant reassurance in stone poised above the huddled dwellings below that no further harm will come to them - a reassurance that has been made good since Napoleon was wounded in 1809 at the walls of the city. Since then even the second world war merely brushed this city and did not visit on it the destruction and cataclysm it meted out to many of her neighbours. Maybe that's why the Angel of the Annunciation statue inside is breaking its sides laughing!
