"Hotel Kaiserhof am Dom" is the correct name, by the way, dear VT database...
Hotel Kaiserhof is located in a building that dates back to the 13th, 14th century. Together with the adjacent Haus Heuport it once formed one single patrician house which was later divided among two branches of the owner family.
The rooms are modern with all comfort you'd expect in a three-star hotel. A big praise goes to the excellent bed.
Rooms to the front have the perfect view of the cathedral and square. My room was facing the backyard, hence no view, but I am not complaining as it was perfectly quiet day and night, unlike the front side with traffic on cobblestone and many pedestrians.
My only minus are the exorbitant costs for W-LAN use. However, they explained that they had gotten into big trouble a couple of years ago when some guest illegaly downloaded music via their WiFi and they were persecuted and taken to court for that, at enormous costs although they were not guilty of anything. Afterwards they abandoned the WiFi system and now guests have to buy Telekom cards to use the hotspot.
Unique Quality: The location is unbeatable: right opposite the twin steeples of the cathedral and within a short walk of almost everything in the old town.
Breakfast is served in the former house chapel. You have your morning coffee under gothic vaults. The breakfast buffet is all right but not abundant. Extras, like for example eggs, are available upon request, though.
Directions: Opposite the Dom steeples
I have nothing but good things to say with only a few suggestions. Location: Could not be any better. Located in the heart across from Cathedral (St Peters). Just blocks from everything. My room: Up to date with everything. I had a shower with black and white tile from top to bottom, cable and phone. My view was of a courtyard nothing special but did cut back on the light. My brothers room opened to the alley way which had charm of its own. Some rooms open to the front square with the Cathedral in complete view. Staff: They were friendly and polite. I think they may have been students. Food: They include a German breakfast with breads, juices, jams and meats with cheese. Tasty… I would gladly stay again. A wonderful experience.
Unique Quality: Outstanding characteristics: The location was just steps away from everything. Friendly staff.
