The Iron Hat

In 1950, my dad took pictures of this hotel sign. I don't remember whether we stayed there or not - I tend to think not.

Still Elegant After the Years

In a trip through the region some years ago, this was a stop to see the surrounding area., and focus on Rothenburg. I am quite sure the tour company had not paid the prevailing rates because it was not a deluxe package tour.

Eisenhut

Hotel comprising four 12th-16th century Patrician houses with terrace, set 50 metres from the impressive Gothic town hall. Rooms are individually decorated using antique furnishings; all feature wireless Internet, minibars and satellite TV. Highly recommend. The staff if very friendly and willing to accomodate all of your needs. Parking is available with an additional fee of 7 Euro per day. The rooms are large with high ceiling, victorian fashion.

Town Hall Vaults – 50 metres
St Jakob’s Church – 100 metres
Medieval Ramparts – 200 metres

Rothenburg Splurge Hotel with Grand amenities

This is a treat for you in Rothenburg. Probably the most luxurious and well-appointed hotel in the old city.

Four of the former patrician houses, from which three are dating from 16th century make up today what is the Hotel Eisenhut.
The Burg-Hotel in Rothenburg has a great view: Eisenhut has excellent appointments, furnishings, private beer garden, restaurant, and a great location in the old city.
Not cheap, but worth the Euros if you have them to spend on luxurious acccomodations.

Unique Quality: Beautiful 15th-16th century appointments, terrace, garden, Löwenbräu beer garden, luxurious rooms and suites. Check out the web site listed here.

Even if you don't stay at Eisenhut, try the beer garden or restaurant and walk through the hotel.

This hotel is situated right in the centre of town, just a few steps from the town square and next to the Christmas-shop of K.Wohlfahrt. All of the main attractions of Rothenburg are in walking-distance. In my opinion Hotel Eisenhut is one of the best and most beautiful hotels in Rothenburg ! The have rooms in the main-building, on the right of my picture and in another building, just across the street.
Have a look for this lovely Iron Hat above the hotel-entrance - like the knights had them in the Middle Ages - "Eisenhut" (iron-hat) is our expression for it and so the guild-sign shows this lovely hat
