The former home of locally famous Mayor Toppler by Johnscarroll This is a centrally located and family owned Inn just one block off the main square. Our room was large, clean, and moderately priced. We had a double, which in Germany means two twin beds pused together to form what Americans would call a King size bed. There was also a small sofa and arm chair. The bathroom was very small, but clean functional and totally adequate for our needs. A small restaurant was also located inside the hotel, but we never ate off the menu. A typical German continental breakfast is included in the price. The food was very good, including pastries, cheese, cold cuts, juice, and yogurt. A perfect way to start the day - light but fulfilling.
This place is literally a family run Inn. The young kids and dogs are all around, but never underfoot or loud. As a gay couple, I got the impression we were welcome but not necessarily embraced. That's OK. I don't expect everyone to love us. Just treat me with respect and give me equal treatment - we don't have to be best friends. The proprietors were often busy, so sometimes they were difficult to find if I had a question. But just waiting a few minutes and someone would pop in. The building is hundreds of years old and very lovely inside. It's maintained meticulously. We were very happy here for two nights.
