RATSTRINKSTUBE - COUNCIL TAVERN
by LoriPori
The Tourist Information Center (Tourismus) is located at Markstpatz 2 in the RATSTRINKSTUBE or Council Tavern building. Here you can get information and brochures about Rothenburg, make room reservations and arrange guided tours.
The building contains a clock which re-enacts daily, the historic "meistertrunk". Rothenburg ob der Tauber in WW II
by globetrott
In march 31st, 1945 Rothenburg ob der Tauber gets partly destroyed by bombs of the allied troops, simply because a german General had choosen his head-quaters in Rothenburg .
All of the buildings were restored again after the war, also with the financial help of people from all parts of the world. Today you may get the feeling to see houses of the medieval times, but in fact most of them had to be restored after WW II. On my picture : a lovely halftimbered house in Klingengasse, on your way from St.Jakob to Klingen-Tor. When you click on my picture you see the Jakob-shell, the symbol for the Jakobus-path to Santiago de Compostela.
Drive to Rothenburg odt
by chodearm
This scene in this photo is the singlemost reoccuring image in my head that sums up the whole trip through Bavaria. Bird chirps and the slight trickle of a slowmoving river highlighted the sun drenched hillside pointellized with sheep chomping on grass clumps. This was just north of Rothenburg.
German Specialties in Nice Setting
by basstbn about Hotel Restaurant Eisenhut
This popular restaurant is right in the middle of all the activity - near the town square and across from the cathedral. Besides the wonderful food, it's draw is the atmosphere. If you're lucky, you can get a table on the patio, but even if not, the inside dining room is quite charming. What else? Bratwurst with kraut and potato salad. On second visit, had a strudel with meat filling. Both were outstanding.
