AKZENT Hotel Müller Hohenschwangau: Dining with a castle view: Neuschwanstein's Best
Our internist recommended this hotel at the foot of the mountain where the two Ludwig castles are located. It celebrated its 100th birthday in 2010. We stayed at this delightful, full service hotel in October 2009. We qualified for the special package, "Indian Summer in the corner of the castles" (available from October 18 to November 14). Arriving well after 2000 hours, we were politely taken to our room and invited to the dining room for a meal. We were tired from a full day of train travel in a light rain and evening snow, so we selected large dinner salads. We could have opted for a three course meal. The next morning, after an enormous breakfast buffet, our tickets for the morning carriage ride and entrance to Neuschwanstein Castle were ready. We also received our tickets for Schloss Hohenschwangau. "Indian Summer" includes a "Menu of the month" one evening, and an exclusive candlelight dinner with a bottle of wine another evening (of one's choice), and the tickets mentioned above. Since we wanted to visit nearby towns, the hotel arranged a car rental for us and not only took us to the rental dealer but also provided transportation to our train after our final night. The staff is superb, friendly and efficient. We have never stayed in such a fine and enjoyable hotel. It was a splurge for us at 572 Euros for 4 nights (but remember the wonderful dinners and breakfasts and tickets to the castles and carriage ride), but we considered it a bargain. Also, it was "doctor's orders."
Meals are taken in the opulent dining room with a view of Neuschwanstein above. The nearby reflective lake Alpsee is beautiful and invites a walk on the circuitous route. It also provides an excellent photo position for Schloss Hohenschwanstein. Adequate shopping is available adjacent to the hotel, across the street, and in downtown Füssen, which is about 2 miles away.

Schlossblick Hotel: for those who don't want to spend too much...
We stayed in this hotel twice.
A low budget bed & breakfast hotel with private atmosphere situated between the Royal Castles. The Schlossblick Hotel is suitable for those who don't want to spend too much on accommodation. For groups they offer half board.
The Schlossblick Hotel is located in the centre of Hohenschwangau, between the Royal Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles.
The hotel with private atmosphere has 26 rooms.
The annex is located directly behind the Schlossblick Hotel.
This location is especially suitable if you prefer a more quiet atmosphere.
A private room for meetings and a TV-room are also available for the guests.
Parking area free of charge for hotel guests.

Alpenstuben Hotel: Right under the castle
The rooms were cosy and clean, and some have views of the castle.
The highlight was the "Knuckle of Pork with bread dumpling" served in the restaurant downstairs, oh yum.
The main benefit of this hotel is that you are already within walking distance of Castle Neuschwanstein - you don't need to travel in from Schwangau like most people seem to do, and you have parking, which is limited in the town.

Hotel Lisl: Hotel Lisl
Room #10 has three windows with views of both castles. Throw in fall colors and what a fantastic memory. Just got back (11/2003). We booked into this large suite with a marble bathroom.
Great views and very attentive staff. International dining in hotel.

Villa Jägerhaus
Villa Jägerhaus is certainly a great choice for a hotel, close to the 2 castles !
It was recently restaured and has a great fassade and cosy interior.
"Jägerhaus" means "house of the hunter" and therefore you see plenty of trophees in the fassade and also inside the building.
Have a look on top of the building, it looks a bit like a deer that is roasted...
