Relaxing at the Königssee
"Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand, wie heißt der schönste See im ganzen Land?"
This is no doubt the Königssee! Its crystalclear, emerald green water creates a magic atmosphere.
The Königssee is a lake surrounded by mountains and the water surface reflects the precipices of the Watzmann and its smaller neighbours.
On the picture is St. Bartholomä, the curiosity of the Königssee with its 12th century Wallfahrtskirche. St. Bartholomä can only be reached by boat. The boats used on the Königssee are electrical ferries: no pollution, no noise.
The village of Schönau is small: 135,9 km² of which 115 km² national park. During the day there are a lot of daytrippers but as soon as the boats stop their service (6pm) Schönau returns to be a quiet paradise.
